ChasingBlueSky 0 #26 November 2, 2004 Quotet is wrong to assume that political Islam, Islamic fundamentalism and Islamic terrorism are the same thing, because they are not. I don't and in fact I ask people to do research on the topic like I have to better understand the divisions within that faith. If you notice, I said "poorly interpreted" when it came down to OBL understanding of the faith. Quotebasically that we trample their rights by supporting tyrannical governments and denying them the right to self determination we hold so dear in the West. Agreed, and if you read Gen Clark's book you see that he wanted to secularize all of the mid east!_________________________________________ you can burn the land and boil the sea, but you can't take the sky from me.... That is to assume that there is some essence of Islam which is incompatible with the western notion of freedom upon which the anti-western jihad is based. I don't agree with the policies of Clark, Bush or Kerry. Secularism is not the answer, it is actually more of a problem in the states than in the ME IMO. Political Islam has been spearheaded by secular individuals more often than religious leaders, unlike the Christian right in America. We tend to struggle with secularism because it has alienated the protestant right, which in turn gave rise to Christian fundamentalists movements dating from the 1920's. They could care less about our freedom. Do a search on my posts and you will see that I fight against people that claim that, and that Bush uses it to seed fear in the country._________________________________________ you can burn the land and boil the sea, but you can't take the sky from me....
