Icon134 0 #1 November 2, 2004 and although I typically shy away from SC/political discussion I'm feeling a bit punchy (might be the pain that radiates out from my shoulder everytime I move it due to the, for the lack of a better word, reinjured hanging from a grand caravan in 90 knot wind...) So I was thinking and thought I'd stir up the pot a bit. I've read numerous posts lately that seem to suggest that countries should "mind thir own business" so to speak and stay out of other countries affairs... I find this concept intriguing, not only because in global age we find ourselves in I can't even fathom a day where I don't see on the news/read on the forums/what-not the opinion of some random individual Katastan (No offense meant if I've brutalized some countries name... as I pulled the "country" out of my a$$) it intrigues me even more because it was a scant 70 years (pre-WWII) that the country I've grown up in (yes, I'm an american... and I'm here to help...) wanted little to nothing to do with the problems of europe and asia and it may have stayed that way if japan hadn't attacked Pearl Harbor... I'm trying to suggest that anyone is right or wrong... personally as long as I get to spend my days playing engineer and my weekend skydiving I'm in a relatively satisfied position. Scott I'm gonna fore-go my typical definition of concieted sigfile and just say have at it and remember attack the position not the person....
sundevil777 102 #2 November 2, 2004 Quite right. The world would do well to... Remember the Neutrality Act of 1937? Remember how the lend-lease act passed by just 1 vote in Congress (If memory serves me well)? Remember how so much of the world closed their eyes to what the Austrian corporal was doing? He was clearly violating the terms of the Versailles treaty. Winston Churchill was decried as a warmonger until Chamberlain's 'Peace in our Times' was shown to be no more reliable than the treaty 'dolph penned with Stalin.People are sick and tired of being told that ordinary and decent people are fed up in this country with being sick and tired. I’m certainly not, and I’m sick and tired of being told that I am
PhillyKev 0 #3 November 2, 2004 Yep, great justification for our involvement in Serbia, but little relevance to current events.
