PhillyKev 0 #1 November 1, 2004 So the Redskins lost, but the Daily Reader poll picks Bush. How do we break this deadlock? Why, with another historical indicator, of course. This one actually has some basis in political issues, though..the economy. Since 1900, if the Dow loses .5% or more in the month of October preceding the presidential election, the incumbent or his party (if he was a lame duck) loses. Last month, the Dow lost .52%.
