rhino 0 #1 October 29, 2004 The President is flying over the country gallivanting in Air Force One, with the largest security force known to man setting up daily security. Amazing how much Bush running for President is costing us. Who do you think is paying for the secret service? Who is paying for the Gas on Air Force One? Our tax dollars.... Bummer huh... Jimbo 0 #2 October 29, 2004 Does that cost come from the general election fund? I'll bet that at least some of it does. With regards to the Secret Service, remember, Kerry is getting the SAME protection. Are you upset about that? Finally, "our tax dollars", of course it. "Our tax dollars" fund the government at all levels. - Jim"Like" - The modern day comma Good bye, my friends. You are missed.

mnischalke 0 #6 October 30, 2004 Yep. He's protected till he dies, and he'll get his own jet to fly around on for the rest of his life too. I flew out of Atlanta last week and taxied by Carter's plane. It sits ready, at his beckon call. BlindBrick 0 #9 October 30, 2004 QuoteYep. He's protected till he dies Nope. IIRC, Clinton was the last ex-Pres to recieve security for life. From now on, ex-Pres's will recieve security for 12 years after they leave office. The logic is that this will yeild a significant cost savings and prevent minimal security risks as most of the sensitive information the ex-pres knows will no longer be sensitive after 12 years. -Blind"If you end up in an alligator's jaws, naked, you probably did something to deserve it." No, what's happened is Rhino, for the first time (according to his comments...) will be voting. He's found a candidate to be passionate about, and is doing so. He's catching up on all the hoopla from the last few years, I think , and is educating himself about things. He's not yet at a point where he's considering all sides, all views, and filtering the chaff from the wheat, but then again, most folks aren't at that point, either. Even *I* don't see all points all the time, even when I try my best to walk the middle of the road. Do I agree with his conclusions? Nope...but that's what's wonderful about this country. We can all hold different opinions, and have different conclusions, and vote our minds. And that's something that Afghanistan just did for the first time in 500 or so years, and something that Iraq will be doing in January. It's all good... Seeing as how Rhino's epiphany came after reading the 9/11 Commission Report . . . you might be right. BTW, have you had a chance to read it in its entirety yet? You can download it from the URL I referenced for FREE. Also, if you're stuck in traffic and want it in audio form for your iPod . . . it's also available at the iTunes store for 5 bucks. Made it most of the way. But when I asked Rhino about some of his comments that he based in the 9/11 Commission report, he didn't identify them, and so I don't know what he's really getting at. QuoteAlso, if you're stuck in traffic and want it in audio form for your iPod . . . it's also available at the iTunes store for 5 bucks. I don't have an iPod. And don't particularly want one, either. QuoteAlso . . . in case you missed any of them . . . ALL the debates and convention speeches from both partys are available for FREE at the iTunes store. Saw all the debates, and the conventions, first hand. Zell Miller sure went to town. I am still left with the question of Rhino to articulate the issues with the 9/11 Commission report, as well as what data and research he did. I suspect we will not change each other's minds, but it's still very interesting to read the information from which someone has drawn a conclusion that is different than mine.
