The FOX News agenda

So I was just perusing FOX News, thinking about RushMC's claim that most news agencies have "agendas" and that's why they're not reporting on all the good things happening in Iraq. And I noticed some scary biases even on FOX. Look at these headlines:

"Wicked Weather- Storms pound Southern California with record rainfall"

Yet according to weather.com, the weather in Boulder, CO is sunny and 73! And ZERO news reports on that. What sort of anti-rain bias do they have?

"Peterson Trial Update- Scott's defense calls back prosecution witness"

They report on a trial where a man allegedly killed his wife, yet nowhere on the main page do they have a single report about how many men DIDN'T kill their wives! Their anti-marriage agenda is clear.

"U.N. begins sifting through records to discover who benefitted from Oil-for-Food corruption"

Yet not one report on the successes in East Timor! A clear anti-UN agenda is evident.

"Cleric Charged- Radical Muslim cleric is charged with 16 terror-related counts in the U.K."

And not one single story on all the clerics NOT charged with terrorism. The racial and religious hatred here is clear.

"Flu Price Gouging? Is Florida-based company taking advantage of vaccine shortfall?"

Where is the report on all the people who _got_ flu shots and didn't die or even get sick? Buried in the middle of some article, no doubt, where no one will see it. I always knew FOX News hated doctors and drug companies!

Good job reporting the effects of the "profit motive" news outlets use to survive. Clearly, they usually report just the bad news because that's what drives ratings and revenues.

But don't confuse profit motive with political motive though. Some news organizations might omit or even create stories to propogate their poitical agenda. This is likely what RushMC was trying to point out.

If a known left leaning organization like CBS news didn't report an interesting bit of good news coming out of Iraq, it COULD be becasue they didn't think it would drive ratings, or it COULD be because they think it might not help get their guy elected. Who knows?

All the great news stories from Iraq aren't really getting lots of coverage on Fox either....or any news agency around the world for that matter.

Good news is generally not news, though in Iraq it would be, specially for a right leaning organization like FOX. Yet it is not really being reported.....certainly makes you wonder...
