peacefuljeffrey 0 #1 October 21, 2004 On the early morning (or late night, depending on your perspective ) news, they are saying that in the "celebrations" after the Red Sox' win, there have been several CARS BURNED. What the fuck is wrong with sports fans, that they do this kind of shit. Never mind that it's a fucked up, asshole thing to do when your team LOSES -- this is what people now do when they fucking WIN?! The fire is started by a single person who decides to do it. What is on that fucking moron's mind?! "Gee, I'm so happy about my team, I think I'll destroy this person's property! Oooh boy, what fun! That'll tell the world how much I am glad about the Red Sox' victory!" -Jeffrey-Jeffrey "With tha thoughts of a militant mind... Hard line, hard line after hard line!" kelpdiver 2 #2 October 21, 2004 By the time a game is over, there are a LOT of drunk fans. OTOH, the losers beat their wives.
jerry81 10 #3 October 21, 2004 Must be the European influence. Sports fan vandalism is a pretty serious issue over here. And yes, it does not matter whether you win or lose- some extremists don't even go to the game, they just trash stuff up and fight the other teams' fans. You should find plenty of reading material on that if you seriously want to explore 'what is on that fucking moron's mind'. Or you can just call them assholes. No problem with that, either. storm1977 0 #4 October 21, 2004 I didn't see any reference to Burning Cars http://www.boston.com/sports/baseball/redsox/articles/2004/10/21/in_victory_fan_anxiety_turns_to_delirium?pg=2 Shit happens though. There are 400,000 college students in the city of Boston alone.... Alot of young drunk stupid people. One or two Morons shouldn't make you think we sports fans are all Morons.... I would have been in the streets dancing drinking and having a good time, but I wouldn't roll cars... Shit happens, there are morons everywhere. peregrinerose 0 #5 October 21, 2004 People are inherently stupid. That's where crap like burning cars while drunk and 'celebrating' happens. You'd think if a person was drunk enough and got close enough to the burning car the alcohol all over their systems would ignite? Sure would save car owners everywhere some headache, eh? Do or do not, there is no try -Yoda
ChasingBlueSky 0 #6 October 21, 2004 Two words: Mob Mentality. Plenty of studies have been done on this. I've had a chance to witness some of the European at an Irish football game and wow...I thought that the Cubs/Sox Bears/Packer fans fought a lot!!!!_________________________________________ you can burn the land and boil the sea, but you can't take the sky from me.... But as time have changed the "controls" over such things have gone awry... Sports exhuberhance can easily get crazy,,, win OR lose, and when the line is crossed by one,,, others follow... Certainly news coverage and " on the spot video" does more to legitimize such activity than it does to discourage it....... lots of followers out there,,, all it takes is the spark.... what a shame... never understood that " let's destroy something" attitude...."lets burn a car"... ... my reply.???. Sure thing Dude!!!!!! as long as it's YOUR car. I'll video.... o[:-)...........The truth is,, that sort of stuff continues to errode my opinion of many of the people with whom we share this society......... Kennedy 0 #8 October 21, 2004 You obviously weren't at Maryland (UMCP) when the basketball team beat Duke in the NCAA tournament. One asshat wanted to pick a fight with me because I was wearing a blue sweatshirt (Duke is light blue, UM is red/yellow/black). I suppose the fact that my bright yellow and black athletic pants with MARYLAND in big letters didn't get though to him. oh, and of course the idea that it's wrong to assault someone bsed on their team preferance never crossed his tiny mind. one more thing: GO TERPS !! and dUCK Fuke witty subliminal message Guard your honor, let your reputation fall where it will, and outlast the bastards. 1*

Chris Dude, when I was in college, it didn't matter how fucking crazy drunk I ever got (and I think you're pretty drunk when you see four of everything) -- and I never came within 100 miles of ever smashing a store window, or burning a car. (The burning car mention was on the local NBC news affiliate here. I don't have details but they sure as shit said there were cars burned.) -Jeffrey-Jeffrey "With tha thoughts of a militant mind... Chris I've been a professor for 35+ years and I've not yet seen cars burning on any of the campuses I've been on. Why blame students? It's sports fans that are the problem.... I'm a Raider fan, and I can tell you that nobody has ever proven that I have committed any acts of violence or vandalism in support of my team. I mean, it's not like a Chargers fan is worth anything, so putting a shank in the kidney of one shouldn't even be a crime. A hundred dollar fine, maybe, but... My wife is hotter than your wife.
