The election is a tie in the electoral college with 269 votes going to each candidate AND a slightly different mix in the House or Senate. For the purposes of this discussion, let's assume the balance in the Senate shifts to the Democrats. The Republican majority in the HOUSE elects the President, so assume GWB. The new Democrat majority SENATE elects the Vice President, so then you'd get Edwards.
