skymama 37 #29 October 21, 2004 QuoteThat comment she (Ms. H-Kerry) made will resonate No kidding. I about choked on my eggs when I heard that comment this morning. Being a stay-at-home mom isn't a real job? You've got to be kidding me. I know women who don't have to work for income but they do it because staying home with their kids all day is too hard compared to getting away and going to a paying job for 8 hours! Not a real job...don't get me started. She is Da Man, and you better not mess with Da Man, because she will lay some keepdown on you faster than, well, really fast. ~Billvon

rushmc 23 #32 October 21, 2004 QuoteI don't get it. She said she doesn't know if L. Bush has ever had a real job. Then she found out that she did and praised her for that job and appologized for not knowing that. How does that offend anyone? With her I do not think it is this one statement alone.........."America will never be destroyed from the outside, if we falter and lose our freedoms, it will be because we destroyed ourselves." rushmc 23 #33 October 21, 2004 QuoteQuoteHeinz Kerry said. "But I don't know that she's ever had a real job — I mean, since she's been grown up The bold words are what make a difference in her statement. I take offense to what Heinz Kerry said. What is a real job? I stayed home and raised my boys till they were in school. I only returned to work after my boys were in school. I only worked the hours that they were in school. I dropped them off at school; I picked them up after school. I stayed home with them when they were sick, and I wiped their butts and changed their diapers. I cooked almost every meal they ate, and I washed all their dirty clothes. I took them on outs, and drove them to all their after school activities. Both my boys are grown now, and I work full time at a real job. But staying home and raising a family was the hardest job I had. What does Kerry thing is a real job?She also said that anybody that did not support JFK's health plan was stupid! It is not just the statement about L. Bush that has her looking less than first lady like."America will never be destroyed from the outside, if we falter and lose our freedoms, it will be because we destroyed ourselves." I think that right wing fundamentalist you currently have as president is lacking in 'strategery'. He is bad news for the rest of the world. Not that that seems to bother a lot of Americans. tigra 0 #45 October 27, 2004 Exactly. The reporter asked her to compare herself with Mrs. Bush, and she was commenting that their life experiences were different. She really didn't say anything offensive or imply that there was anything wrong with not working outside the home. Her error was in not remembering that Laura Bush had once been a school teacher. (When Bill Clinton was running for president, Hillary made some snide remark about women who "stayed home and baked cookies". That was most definitely a slam against stay at home moms, no way she could retract it, explain it, or undo the damage, although she did try. But it also had no effect on the election!) I DO think Laura Bush handled the whole thing with so much grace and dignity that I have renewed respect for her. (Even though I don't think much of her husband!)
