It was just before one of the commercial breaks. Carlson was doing the out promo and you can hear Steward in the background off camera.

Carlson had just called Stewart a "buttboy". Nice, eh? And yet all anyone wants to talk about is how Stewart called Carlson a "dick".

Another interesting item is that Stewart was trying to make a valid point about how serious news shows (which he pointed out several times his is NOT) have an obligation to the public to help them understand and not foster partisan angst, but they kept trying to hammer at him as if he is a competing news show that is too soft on political guests. I think my favorite line from that show was "The show that leads into mine is puppets making crank phone calls." Stewart knows his obligations in hosting his show: making people laugh regardless of partisan politics.

Nietzsche was right, politics tends to be for the lesser minds...no offense meant to those who dabble here in speaker's corner.

The puppet comment put everything into perspective and was one of the funniest comments on the show. It was incredible watching both of them treat Stewart as if he was supposed to be a non-partisian reporter on a station that is called "Comedy Central."

I've caught some jabs at "comedy based news shows" on all of the news stations - from O'Reilly, Crosstalk, Hardball and even Real Time (which didn't make sense to me). I think this is what prompted Stewart to go on....plus he gets to plug his book!

Stewart had an agenda on that show and I am glad he went on. He said what needed to be said - most news is now a joke or a venue for entertainment. Most of these news shows just spit out talking points, catch phrases and useless drivel. (the spin alley comments come to mind).

It's amazing to think that a comedian schooled two reporters on how the news really should be.

No worries. We don't just talk politics. Occasionally we cover other subjects such as guns and...:|...yep, sometimes we also talk about guns. ;)
