Gravitymaster 0 #1 October 18, 2004 ...to how low the Dems will sink to win? MAN GIVEN CRACK COCAINE TO REGISTER VOTERS ARRESTED IN OHIO Mon Oct 18 2004 13:26:03 ET October 18, 2004 The Defiance County Sheriff's Office arrested Chad Staton, age 22, of Stratton Ave., Defiance, on a charge of False Registration, in Violation of Section 3599.11 of the Ohio Revised Code, a felony of the fifth degree. The SheriffÕs Office alleges that Staton filled out over 100 voter registration forms that were fictitious. Staton was to be paid for each registration form that he could get citizens to fill out. However, Staton himself filled out the registrations and returned them to the woman who hired him from Toledo, Ohio. Deputies allege that Staton was paid crack cocaine for the falsified registrations. Defiance Deputies along with Toledo Police Department detectives conducted a search warrant of a residence on Woodland in Toledo, believed to be the home of the woman who hired Staton to solicit voter registration. Officers confiscated drug paraphernalia along with voter registration forms from the home. The occupant of the home, Georgianne Pitts, age 41, advised law enforcement, along with Ohio B.C.I.&I., that she had been recruited by Thaddeus J. Jackson, II, of Cleveland, to obtain voter registrations. Pitts admitted to paying Staton crack cocaine for the registrations in lieu of money. A business card provided by Pitts indicated that Jackson is the Assistant NVF Ohio Director of the NAACP National Voter Fund. The initial complaint received by the Sheriff's Office came from the Defiance County Board of Elections. The Board had received the 100 plus registration forms from the Cuyahoga Board of Elections that had been submitted to the Cuyahoga Board by the NAACP National Voter Fund. Developing... (Just to mention more than one!) I tend to doubt that story, seen from faaar far away.... Isn't Ohio a swing state? To create such a dirty story looks like someone did a bad job. dudeist skydiver # 3105

PhillyKev 0 #10 October 19, 2004 QuotePerhaps his wife can buy them for the needy Probably what some of the $2.5 Million she gave to charity last year went toward. Funny how the republican attack dogs are harping about how she "had $2.5 Million in income she didn't pay taxes on" but fail to mention it's because that's the amount she donated to charity. ChasingBlueSky 0 #14 October 21, 2004 Then there is this: http://www.philly.com/mld/inquirer/news/local/states/pennsylvania/counties/montgomery_county/9955386.htm?1c Registration scam targets Democrats Students signing petitions had their party affiliation changed. By Jeff Shields and Michael Vitez Inquirer Staff Writers Calling for the legalization of marijuana can have an unintended side effect, students at Montgomery County Community College are finding out. It can turn you into a Republican. County elections officials confirmed yesterday that an undetermined number of students had their voter registration switched to Republican when they signed a petition supporting the legalization of medicinal marijuana in September. "I felt filthy," said Democrat Micah Edwards, 18, of Glenside, when he learned what had happened. "I don't see the point," said Jennifer Fugo, 24, of Plymouth Township. "But it was disturbing nonetheless." The bizarre scam has everyone involved scratching their heads over a suspect and a motive. Voters whose party was switched will have no trouble voting on Nov. 2. It could only affect a primary vote, because only party members can vote in a primary. The incident came to light last week as some students began to receive new voter registration cards. About five called the Election Board, county elections supervisor Joseph Passarella said. The common thread: The students were once Democrats, were now Republicans, and had signed the pot petition on campus in late September. Fugo said she was approached by a college-age "kid" in front of the MCCC campus bookstore on Sept. 22. He asked her to sign a petition to legalize marijuana for medicinal purposes. His responses to her questions indicated he was well-informed on the issue, Fugo said. After she signed the petition, the signature gatherer asked her to fill out a voter registration form to verify her signature. She had doubts, she said, but he was convincing, so she supplied the information. She said she could not remember whether she bothered to check the box for "party." Edwards had a similar recollection: He made sure the petition was for medicinal marijuana, then provided his name and address, and signed where he was asked to do so. District Attorney Bruce Castor, who said his office had received no formal complaints, said any such activity should be reported to him. County Democratic Chairman Marcel Groen said he had no idea who was responsible, and Republican Chairman Ken Davis said he was similarly befuddled. College officials said that soliciting is prohibited on campus and that outsiders must register to conduct any activities. Fugo theorized that the petition's subject matter "was targeted toward students who were a bit more liberal in their values." Edwards, who says he is looking forward to voting in his first election, says he was shocked by the whole thing. "The fact that they could do that makes me wonder what else they could do," he said._________________________________________ you can burn the land and boil the sea, but you can't take the sky from me.... PhillyKev 0 #15 October 22, 2004 Wow. That's where I went to college before dropping out and becoming a computer geek. Montgomery County PA is (or at least was) one of the ten richest counties in the country per capita. It's over 80% republican. This story is weird. Nice thing was during primaries having no line for the one Democrat booth and a big ass line for the Republican booths. The nasty thing was all the Republicans yelling at you and calling you names as you walked past them to vote.
