diablopilot 2 #1 October 14, 2004 So all this hooplah from either side, when a person is pushing their canidate on you, isn't it a form of advetising? (Besides being annoying.)---------------------------------------------- You're not as good as you think you are. Seriously.
quade 4 #2 October 14, 2004 Do you mean advertising from an FEC or dropzone.com stand point?quade - The World's Most Boring Skydiver
diablopilot 2 #3 October 14, 2004 Hmmmm... It would help if I knew what the FEC was. I was thinking from a DZ.com stand point, although I don't think any action required as it thankfuly stays contained in it's protective cage "Speaker's Corner" which can be realtivly easily avoided. I was trying to pry out of people whether or not they realized what "talking head spokesmodels" they seem to let themselves become (on both sides) to the point of not having a point. They simply seem to be regurgitating the same stuff they have shoved down their throats by their prefered choice in media organization. Kind of a puppetry. edit cause I can't type......---------------------------------------------- You're not as good as you think you are. Seriously. quade 4 #4 October 14, 2004 Quote Hmmmm... It would help if I knew what the FEC was. Federal Election Comission They set the rules as to what is and is not acceptable in advertising for elections. As for getting to the point of not having a point . . . I think everyone is entitled to their opinion no matter how it was formed or how ill informed it happens to be -- especially in this forum. And don't think that just because some folks might have strong opinions or that they are different from your own that everyone here is simply parroting what they've already heard. While that may be true in some cases, I'd wager a guess it's not true in every case. When you read copy and paste text it's pretty obvious that a person is a parrot. When you see the same type of words by a politician and a forum user, he might be a parrot -- then again, it might just be simultaneous invention because the ideas are so fundamental and they are on the same side of the issue. When somebody tries to put together an orginal argument . . . I have a lot more respect for them.quade - The World's Most Boring Skydiver
Deuce 1 #5 October 14, 2004 Kind of a neat take on it, SoCal. Probably more like brand loyalty. Levi's being better than Lee's kind of thing. Or Adidas v. Nike. Ford v. Chevy etc. One of the political parties fits me much more comfortably than the other. If I should take the time or trouble to talk you into trying it on for size, I don't know if that would be advertising so much as advocacy.
diablopilot 2 #6 October 14, 2004 QuoteI have a lot more respect for them. Respect, sure, but campaigning is campaigning. IMO a great argument is diminished when the speaker ends it with "and that's why you should vote for..." Let me come to my own conclusions. As for people having strong, or differing opinions, that doesn't mean they are parroting. The franticness with which they push the opinion and the susceptibleness of said opinion to withstand attack is usually a great indices though......---------------------------------------------- You're not as good as you think you are.
