FinlanderSisu 0 #1 October 8, 2004 Disclaimer: I ,being a liberal democrat, am not trying to speak on behalf of all democrats nor when I say “republican” am I trying to classify all Republicans into one pile. I am merely speaking in generality as perceived by me on current election topics. Abortion- Despite how the media, republican pundits, or conservatives like to classify, categorize or demonize democrats, Pro-Choice does not, let me repeat, DOES NOT equal Pro-Death. We are not in the corner twisting our handlebar mustaches looking for ways to kill babies. We simply do not want Government intervention in personal affairs. Once you set that precedence what is next, being like China and imposing hefty fines for having more than one child? Me, I’m Pro-life and Pro-choice, yes it is possible. I think abortion is wrong but ultimately it’s not for me to decide. Each woman will have to answer to her maker for HER choice. Death Penalty- Wrong on many different levels. 1. It does not say “thou shalt not kill unless………”. Again I am pro-life as stated above so don’t try to slam me here. 2. Has never proven to be an effective deterrent. 3. Its not cost effective- Research the fact, yes, fact that the death penalty is far more costly than life in Incarceration. Why do we kill people who kill people to show that killing is wrong? War In Iraq and Flip-flopping- We all know now that there are no WMD in Iraq, that’s a given. If you know you are wrong, the world sees we are wrong for the “original reason” we went to war- WMD- how many soldiers and civilians have to die before we admit we are wrong. I would respect “W” a lot more if he could admit he made a mistake , any mistake. Instead he holds the words “resolve” “committed” and “hard work” to avoid any chance that he has to face the facts. But the political spinners have moved away from the WMD issue to being liberators. In other words we will concoct a reason after the war started to remain popular in eyes of the voters. Side note- Shaaaaame on the RNC for wearing blue band-aids mocking Kerry’s war wounds. What message does that send to our soldiers in harms way? Taxes- Econ 101, let me compare the u.s economy with our personal finances. Taxes (for the government) equate to you’re salary as an employee. The government has bills to pay- you have bills to pay. You’re salary pays the rent, electricity, water, etc. Taxes pay the fire departments, education, health care, etc. See the correlation? So a tax cut is basically a salary cut in this example. The questions are 1) What are we going to reduce with less taxes? And 2) Where are tax cuts going to come from? Bend down I got a secret to whisper to ya. When Bush or any President cuts taxes the government still has bills to pay so, are ya ready, we can 1)either raise taxes on the state level to make up for it or 2)Get deeper in debt for our children. Food for thought

Food for thought OK, then, with the same disclaimer, I will say this is the best indication I have ever seen that some liberals do understand economics. The only problem here is that you forgot the simplest, and as it happens best, solution. 3) SPEND LESS! If we could get either the Democrats or the Republicans to understand that, the entire country and all within it would be better off. Now, before you jump on me about education, defense or whatever your personal favorite is, think about all the stupid money wasted by our government. Why should I pay for foreign aid to NeverNeverLand, some couch potato in Bodunk, or a gold plated toilet seat for some Congressman?

Ask Bush, who has created the biggest government in US history and has gone into the deepest debt in US history in order to do it.... The only sure way to survive a canopy collision is not to have one.
FinlanderSisu 0 #4 October 8, 2004 I absolutely, positively agree. Well said. Im a military vet and have seen much waste to ensure they get alloted the same amount $ next fiscal year. I very much dislike the rights view that democrats want to give handouts. I for one will never help anyone that can help themselves but won't.Period. Different story for people that "can't" help themselves. I think its irresponsible, inapropriate, and foolish to give tax cuts while we have a, what is it now a 6 trillion $ dollar national debt. Think to the previous example of salary vs. taxes(governments income). If you have a 50K credit card debt (i.e national debt) would it be wise to offer to have youre salary cut?? Supply side economics is ridiculous. Give Wal-Mart couple billion dollar tax cut to create jobs. Are you going to shop at walmart more if there are more workers ther??
