Anyone want to see the true nature of our enemies?

Recommended Posts

>We ARE hated because we are free

We are hated because we kill them and support other people who kill them. Sort of the same reason we hate Al Qaeda and the people who support them. Pretty simple, really. Imagine how you would feel if an Iranian killed your parents - then imagine how an Iraqi feels when a US pilot kills his parents. Despite what some conservatives say, they feel the same thing we do when that happens.

Hated because we are free? Please. McCarthy tried that. "They hate us because we are a shining beacon of hope in a world they wish to darken." Sounds nice as a sound bite on the news, though.

And to be honest, they hate us more because we have a history of supporting monarchies that they see as a barrier to their freedom.

We aren't a beacon of freedom and democracy to them. We all know that we live in one of the most free societies in the world. But their experience with us is that we are friends with the governments who have oppressed them.

Who is it on here that has the "the friend of my enemy is my enemy" quote? It works both ways.

Nah. PJ got it right. They hate the fact we're free, our lives, our happiness...everything about us.

You look too deep into things half the time. Usually the first thought that races through your pumpkin is the correct one. Don't Google for the answers...just speak from the heart.

Why do you hate Al Qaeda? (I assume you do.) Do you hate their devotion to their god or their skin color? Or do you hate them because they killed 3000 americans? Iraqis aren't so different from you.

That's easy, then. I hate the people who kill (or threaten to kill) my friends, family and countrymen. There is no reason they would be any different.

Please elaborate on why you think this is mindless...

Are you suggesting that there are no criminals in Iraq who are shooting at people or kidnapping people for other than nationalistic reasons (say for ransome, monitary gain)?

Are you suggesting that there are no terrorists that are Iraqi? Who are fighting for religious reasons, or at the prompting of other governments (say Iran)?

If you are, you are obviously not quite as worldly as you pretend to be... How can you see anything with your head in the sand?
***

And where's your head? At the other end?

I do not suggest anything, I simply do not accept that every action of Iraqis is considered to be a terrorist action. Oh, yeah, it's easy to kill someone if before , you call him a killer!

What did I pretend to be? I belong to the part sitting outside and watching. If I want or not. But "you"are involved.

Is it within your imaginations, that there simply are folks fighting for their life? They did not invite anyone to free them. Who's giving you the right to call them terrorists ?

(of course, I cannot talk about these mad splinter groups popping up like mushrooms after a warm rain>:( and killing people like flies >:()

Sometimes, it could be a good idea to hide the head deep in the sand :S

I haven't noticed them blowing up Norwegian planes, or Irish buses or Danish shopping centers. Are you arguing that Norway, Ireland and Denmark aren't free?

I suggest the reason is that Norway, Denmark and Ireland don't interfere in their affairs like we do.

Did you even read my original post? I said that some Iraqi's are involved in legitimate resistance... just not all Iraqis that have taken to violence are...

For years, Iraqis have asked us, and the world to help rid them of Saddam, and even more have thanked us for finally doing it...

Oh sorry: What? When did they beg you to free them, to get rid of SH? And they thanked you for finally doing it? Any video available? Otherwise, I didn't happen!

A show of force is like chopping someone's head off... Yeah, okay. :S:S

What about those failed "Decapitation strikes."
Do you see no irony here?

I see plenty of irony. Decapitation strikes are designed to save innocent lives.

Decapitations, of the recent sort, are designed to end innocent lives.

See the difference? Do you support the former, or the latter?

only to set shit straight when it looks like it is building up to HARM us. In all the time you say we've been "invading" countries, we don't go around ANNEXING them.

No, but you do like to setup friendly governments, usually dictators, to do whatever you say and to hell with the inhabitants in the meantime. Its not right.

In many cases your government is a hinderance to democracy and to the betterment of the inhabitants of such countries.

I would like to see a world where the US just minds their own business, and stops installing client states to do their bidding.

The Kurds have also asked for the worlds help, yet they are still the largest minorty without a homeland.
The US supports state terrorism against the Kurds by the Turkish government.

Are you so naive that you think what you are doing is just and right?

Its time to wake up and read your Chomsky.

What had we done to Afghanistan before Al Quada and the Taliban orchestrated the 9/11 attacks against us?

Fund them and give them your support to help you defeat the URSS.
Dude, the u.S needs to make up it´s mind about who its allies are and be consistent about it. Messing with nut and inestable governments will only lead to more terrorist attacks.

Uh... no they're not. They are meant to take the enemy's current leadership "out". 2 of the Husseins are dead; the 3rd one is put away. Shit is still happening there...:S

The fact of the matter is that foreign diplomacy is a dance. Looking at history, we have supported one and then supported the other one (Iraq, Iran, Afghanistan, etc...). We have different administrations who have different agendas. We have a new election every four year, which is about how long it takes to start seeing results for either way of doing things. We have half of all Americans disagreeing with the other half. We have most of people outside of America disagreeing with America. Kinda makes my head hurt. I think the answer does lie in America sticking to a path, no matter what your party membership card is stamped.

I think the poster up above who referred to getting us off foreign oil was right. The only problem is that environmentalists won't let us drill Alaska. Maybe solar, hydrogen fuel cells are the way to go. Then these radicals in oil rich countries wouldn't have an operating budget due to the lack of need for oil. Then we could get out and let um have at each other. I think it kinda sucks being the big kid on the block. Too much responsibility.

BTW its so funny how looking at a users profile and the area they live in, is so accurate in how they post. Red states red, blue states blue. I just looked at this thread and its something like 90% accurate. I would have thought there would be a lot of tranplants and such, go figure.

Can't we all just get along????:D
