Deuce 1 #1 September 16, 2004 QuoteWed Sep 15, 6:05 PM ET By SAM DOLNICK, Associated Press Writer NEW YORK - Teresa Heinz Kerry, encouraging volunteers as they busily packed supplies Wednesday for hurricane relief efforts in the Caribbean, said she was concerned the effort was too focused on sending clothes instead of essentials like water and electric generators. "Clothing is wonderful, but let them go naked for a while, at least the kids," said Heinz Kerry, the wife of Democratic presidential candidate John Kerry (news - web sites). "Water is necessary, and then generators, and then food, and then clothes." Heinz Kerry stopped by a market in the heart of Brooklyn's Caribbean community, where she spoke French with Haitian vendors and shook hands with volunteers busy packing food, clothes and other relief supplies to be shipped to several Carribean islands hit by Hurricane Ivan. Her husband's campaign donated water, blankets and first aid kits. "I think it's important we help all the kids we can," Heinz Kerry said. Ivan swept through the Caribbean last week, killing more than 60 people and leaving tens of thousands homeless. Dr. Roy A. Hastick Sr., president of the Caribbean American Chamber of Commerce (news - web sites) and coordinator of the market's relief effort, said the visit helped make difficult days a bit brighter. "It's a major boost for us and the community to show we have someone on a national level concerned with what's happening in the Caribbean region," Hastick Sr. said. Supporters gathered on the sidewalk shouted "We love you," and "Good luck" as Heinz Kerry made her way to a waiting car. I'm sorry to be piling on, but this campaign is such a train wreck you just can't help but watch.

Is it me or are someones pampered priorities just a bit skewed? Thank you Teresa - for helping confirf what alot of us already knew about you and your husband. Neither of you is fit to lead.I'm not usually into the whole 3-way thing, but you got me a little excited with that. - Skymama BTR #1 / OTB^5 Official #2 / Hellfish #408 / VSCR #108/Tortuga/Orfun

DrewEckhardt 0 #4 September 16, 2004 If we elect John Kerry, Teresa doesn't become vice president, doesn't take over if he dies, and isn't even entitled to a political nomination. She's a separate person so what she says is irrelevant when it comes to the election. OTOH, it's nice to see a first lady with realistic priorities and a sense of humor. Jimbo 0 #5 September 16, 2004 QuoteShe's a separate person so what she says is irrelevant when it comes to the election. I couldn't disagree with that statement more. She's the single most important person in John Kerry's life - do you REALLY think that the 1st Lady doesn't influence the President? Hell, she's probably MORE powerful, and has MORE influence than the VP. - Jim"Like" - The modern day comma Good bye, my friends. You are missed. happythoughts 0 #6 September 16, 2004 Quote#2 Need - Generators? I'll bet she won't visit PJ in Florida until his elec comes back on. If she does, she is ok with being naked the whole time.

Judging from Kerry's indecision, she probably controls his spineless ass with an iron fist or at least $1B. -------------------------------------------------- the depth of his depravity sickens me. -- Jerry Falwell, People v. kaerock 1 #8 September 16, 2004 generators -> refrigerators -> medicine (insulin, blood) etc. Sounds reasonable to me. also: one would assume that people are already wearing clothing, which can be re-worn, they are not consumables, food, water and insulin, however are. -R Quote"Water is necessary, and then generators, and then food, and then clothes." #1 Need - Water #2 Need - Generators? #3 Need - Food #4 Need - Clothes. At a rational level, you are absolutely correct. People don't vote entirely rationally, though. As to her comment being funny, I don't think the folks who's homes have been vacuumed into the sky will think being told to go naked is all that humorous. She's just funny.
