PhillyKev 0 #4 September 15, 2004 Technically they didn't vote to give themselves a pay raise. They are included in the automatic yearly civil servants pay raise. They voted AGAINST a measure to remove them from that and have a separate vote about their own pay. That being said, it doesn't go into effect until next year and there's an election before that. If you think what they did was wrong, consider that when deciding for whom to vote.
PhreeZone 20 #5 September 15, 2004 There is nothing more ironic then voting against a pay raise only not recieve it by being voted out of office Yesterday is history And tomorrow is a mystery Parachutemanuals.com
Zenister 0 #6 September 15, 2004 unfortunately it doenst matter whos butt is in the chair he's still going to get paid an awful lot more than any one that does any real work for the government... honestly IMO elected officials should have their expenses paid and then be given a salary above that based on the average income for the jurisdiction they represent... i think you'd find the lawyers leaving the profession like rats from a sinking food crate...____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed. PhreeZone 20 #7 September 15, 2004 Yep, and one of my Ex's father who was a doctor took a huge pay cut to become elected to the House. I did'nt understand it at first but when you have to keep two residences the living expences add up quick. You need to live in the district you represent and you need a place to live in DC.Yesterday is history And tomorrow is a mystery Parachutemanuals.com

Along with travel expenses between your district & DC?
