InflightSupv 0 #1 September 14, 2004 Fox just showed a video of a 93yr old woman skydiving today after she got inspired by Former President Bush's jump for his 80th. Does anyone have anymore info on this jump? I thought it was way cool.
TomAiello 26 #2 September 14, 2004 I think it's inspirational. I hope I'm doing that when I'm that age. Now I'll step aside as this degenerates into a flame war... "See, Bush endangers the lives of old women!" "No, Bush is an inspiration, Kerry would have locked that old woman up in her house and not let her jump!" Hey, at least we know that Badnarik could have taken her for the jump.-- Tom Aiello Tom@SnakeRiverBASE.com SnakeRiverBASE.com

misskriss 0 #4 September 14, 2004 She came out to West Point this past weekend. She's a firecracker! Birthday jump inspired by former president's skydive 09/13/2004 Associated Press Inspired by former President George H.W. Bush, Polly Gifford celebrated her 93rd birthday by making her first skydive at 14,000 feet. "I thought, well, if he could do it, I guess I could," Gifford said of Bush, who marked his 80th in June by skydiving. Gifford, who took her jump Saturday, the eve of her birthday, wrote a poem to Jim Crouch, director of safety and training for the U.S. Parachute Association. He took her on the tandem jump. "Everything seems so silent and still "Unless you've done it, you can't imagine the thrill." They jumped with several other people at the Middle Peninsula Regional Airport in West Point. "You shake when you come down," she said. "Not from fear, but just from the fun of it." She didn't tell any of her five sons about the jump ahead of time, in case it was canceled by weather. After her jump, "They thought it was great. They said, 'Way to go!' At first they thought I was kidding them." Gifford, whose real first name is Nancy, lives independently and still drives. "They gave me my license till '06," she said. ___ Information from: Daily Press
livendive 8 #5 September 14, 2004 I took a gal for her 80th birthday last month who decided to give it a go after watching Bush Sr's jump. She gave me the exact same quote as this 93-year-old did in the paper..."I figure if he can do it, so can I". Blues, Dave"I AM A PROFESSIONAL EXTREME ATHLETE!" pajarito 0 #6 September 14, 2004 I took my 72 year old Mother-in-law on a tandem last Thanksgiving. I think she's wanting to do it again this year. Cherry Doyle
