JohnRich 4 #1 September 10, 2004 In the news: Copper John castrated Copper John, Auburn Correctional Facility's mascot, is no longer anatomically correct. The prison's management ordered the removal of a copper bulge in the crotch area of the statue, which was taken down from its perch overlooking the prison for renovations. The bulge was painted white to match Copper John's pants. The statue has been on the prison's roofline since the administration building was rebuilt and reopened in 1940. "You can't notice it from the ground," Bielowicz said. "Is it politically correct? No. Is it anatomically correct? Yes." It is rumored that the copper bulge has been sent to state archives in Albany. News Story A photo of Copper John is attached. It's not a very good photo, but it's all I could find on the internet. Curiously, none of the numerous news stories on this carry an accompanying photo...

AggieDave 6 #3 September 10, 2004 Actually, the first ones in history to really get after it ruining many priceless works of art was the Catholic church.
