William Niskanen, chairman of the Cato Institute, said Bush's warnings about Kerry's spending plans were "inconsistent" with his own proposals. "There's no way to accomplish (Bush's) major new measures, including tax reform, without substantial increases in spending," Niskanen said. Stephen Moore of the Club for Growth, a group that raises money for conservative political candidates, said Bush was not being "very forthright" about his plans. He called Bush's fiscal record "abysmal," adding that under both Bush and Kerry "fiscal responsibility takes the back seat." This week congressional analysts warned the deficit will balloon to a cumulative $2.29 trillion over the next decade.

PhillyKev 0 #3 September 10, 2004 Yeah, but that someone was a liberal, leftie, pinko, communist, baby killer. Thought maybe some people would have more respect for these guys. But my guess is that instead considering the facts, these guys will now be called liberal, pinko, communist, baby killers. It's easier to attack the messenger than to change your perception. rehmwa 2 #4 September 10, 2004 Just like you leftwing wackos to insist on your stereotypes before any of the libertarians speak up. Good for those guys to speak up at the Cato. Neither party has a good financial plan. We already know it. Also good to see you and Kallend agree that Kerry also doesn't have any concrete plan, either. So two of the two candidates suck as far as spending goes. So now we can take any deficit discussions out of the comparisons. That still leaves us with many other issues to debate. Not entirely, it comes down again to which sucker sucks less. Based on the info they have gotten, they see Bush resulting in a 10 year $3 trillion deficit and Kerry resulting in a 10 year $1 trillion deficit. PhillyKev 0 #8 September 10, 2004 QuoteI knew you couldn't do it. Couldn't what? Not make a valid comparison? I see, when there's a better outlook from a conservative think tank regarding Kerry, it shouldn't be discussed.
