Deuce 1 #1 September 7, 2004 http://www.drudgereport.com/dncg.htm OK, as usual they are getting some of the facts wrong, but getting elected is based upon perception, not reality. When I started seeing all these folks "giving" rifles and shotguns to Kerry, I knew it was just a matter of time until somebody found that the paperwork on one of these "transfers" was incomplete or incorrect. Kerry has a voting record that is in favor of the Brady Bill kind of hurdles to getting firearms. I don't even care about that issue, it's just his campaign having him display and recieve weapons to have him percieved as less anti-gun, but gifting guns, due to Brady, is pretty much illegal. Attaching the "flip-flop" thing to Kerry is getting more and more traction, and his campaign just keeps wading in deeper.
EricTheRed 0 #2 September 7, 2004 Wow. that's pretty damn inaccurate. I'd never call that a "pistol grip" stock. I admit that gun bans in general are pointless and BS but saying that gun has a "pistol grip" is really a stretch. This is a pistol grip shotgun...illegible usually

jdhill 0 #4 September 7, 2004 I think the point was that the bill Kerry co-sponsored would have defined that stock as having a pistol grip, and therfore would have been banned... Deuce 1 #5 September 7, 2004 Well, that whole "pistol grip" thing is up in the air. That's not even really what I'm referencing. It's the whole "all things to all people" deal that his campaign is trying to pull off. I don't think it can be done. They made a mighty effort at it, but valliant warrior-and-war protester thing didn't work out, and I don't think the Anti-Gun-and-Gun Owner thing will either. The gun threads always go the same route, but if he took the plug outta that Browning, it'd be a "machine-shotgun". I just don't think the liberal base is energized to see him waving rifles and shotguns around, and I wonder what the "undecideds" are going to think of it. This is a funny distraction to the real issue, but I'll play. In fact, they are both pistol grips. Oddly enough, if the *new* so-called "assault weapons" bill--which Kerry supports--was passed, do you know which shotgun (the image on Drudge or the image you posted) would be banned? (hint: it's not the evil looking black one.) on H.R. 2038/S. 1431: Quote...Bans all semi-automatic shotguns. Bans Remington, Winchester, Beretta, Benelli, and other shotguns commonly used for hunting, trap, skeet, sporting clays, and self-defense. Bans them by banning their main component, called the "receiver" (sec. 2(a)(30)(J)), and bans them because they have "any characteristic that can function as a grip"(sec. 2(H)(ii) and (b)(42)). Any characteristic... You'd think that Kerry should have been a little wiser than to accept a firearm of which he supports a nation-wide ban. mike Girls only want boyfriends who have great skills--You know, like nunchuk skills, bow-hunting skills, computer-hacking skills. miked10270 0 #7 September 7, 2004 I see it as all part of Kerry's cunning plan... The more guns he gets given to him... the less guns that'll be out there for him to ban... If he does ban them... Which he obviously fully intends to (think about). "I wonder what the "undecideds" are going to think of it." Ask Kerry. Isn't he one of the undecided? Mike. Nope, he's like most of the anti-gun liberals. We should ban guns but I don't apply. peacefuljeffrey 0 #15 September 8, 2004 From the Drudge article: QuoteKerry co-sponsored S. 1431 last year (“The Assault Weapons Ban and Law Enforcement Protection Act of 2003) which would have banned a "semiautomatic shotgun that has a pistol grip.” Opponents of the bill successfully argued how nearly all guns have "pistol grips," inluding millions of Browning Auto-5 shotguns produced since 1903. Photos show Kerry's hand resting on the "pistol grip," as loosely defined in the bill. [Section SEC. 2; (H) (ii) and (b)(42): "The term 'pistol grip' means a grip, a thumbhole stock, or any other characteristic that can function as a grip."] (emphasis mine) Kerry was presented with the semiautomatic shotgun during a Labor Day stop in Racine, West Virginia. Um, this atrocity that Kerry co-sponsored makes illegal "any other characteristic that can function as a grip"?! So the only guns that Kerry thinks should be legal are those that have nothing you can hold them by?? And this guy has no problem accepting, as a gift, a gun which under his own legislation would be illegal for its characteristics, and illegal to receive as a gift?! He really is a motherfucking piece of shit. --Jeffrey "With tha thoughts of a militant mind... Hard line, hard line after hard line!"
