quade 4 #77 September 5, 2004 Quote Don't forget about Whoopie's NYC hate fest. Isn't that representative of the DNC? Even though you nor I have seen the actual material she used, I am sure that Whoopie said some things a bit more controversial and blue than would have been said for television. I am equally sure that in private meetings Karl Rove et. al has used the same type of humor and language when talking about Kerry. I think most of us have made jokes at other people's expense. Big fuckin' deal. Again, that's not what is in question -- at least not in my mind. What I care about is the actual, official stated positions. The things that are not the jokes, but reality. Or at least the officially sanctioned reality. Think about it, if Miller's speech is the officially sanctioned and vetted position -- what the f must they be thinking -behind- the scenes?quade - The World's Most Boring Skydiver
Jib 0 #78 September 5, 2004 A bit more? Their sense of humor behind closed doors is not the same as a multimillion dollar fund raiser -- apples and oranges. Kerry and friends have no sense of decorum whatsoever. Making fun of Bush's name is something so juvenile he shouldn't be elected class president of South Park let alone the US. -------------------------------------------------- the depth of his depravity sickens me. -- Jerry Falwell, People v. quade 4 #79 September 5, 2004 One thing -- he didn't do it nor is it likely that he knew that she, Whoopie, was going to do it. She is a comedien, a professional clown that says things for the sole purpose of getting a cheap laugh and I'd agree that she shouldn't be the President, then again, that's probably not going to happen.quade - The World's Most Boring Skydiver
Jib 0 #80 September 5, 2004 Okay, then it was "incompetent" not to screen or brief her as not to embarass the campaign. Funny how there wasn't any media there to release what she said. Funny how the campaign never apologized for it either. I guess it was too funny to act like children. Do you want children in the White House? -------------------------------------------------- the depth of his depravity sickens me. -- Jerry Falwell, People v. quade 4 #81 September 5, 2004 Agreed. It probably wasn't prudent of the RNC to not at least ask to see what she planned on doing. That said, sometimes when you're doing comedy (especially comedy), things just slip out. I'm sure that at one time or another we've all joked about things that a nano-second or two later we wish we hadn't said. As for the media, I believe the most logical explaination is that the acts as a whole were hired for a live private performance. It's -very- common for performers to have riders in their contracts about video taping in general and if they thought there were NO cameras, they might have been insipred to let loose with more raunchy (funnier) material. Even at most authorized performances the news is usually limited to only a few minutes of recording, so it doesn't surprize me in the least that there is no news footage of the event. It would be "interesting" to see if a bootleg comes to light in the next 60 or so days. As for children at The White House . . . actually until the children are old enough to appreciate the significance of what they're looking at, I'd really prefer for them to stay at home. If they can understand what they're looking at, I don't have a problem with them hearing -any- language. Face it, no matter what rules the parents have, by the age of 8 or so, the kids know just about every dirty word there is so what would you really be protecting them from?quade - The World's Most Boring Skydiver

tunaplanet 0 #83 September 5, 2004 QuoteHere's my wisdom: ANYONE BUT BUSH. That sums up almost every democrat at this moment in time. None of you all actually like Flippy. None of you all really think Flippy is capable of running the country. All the liberals want is another liberal in the White House regardless of his qualifications and leadership abilities. That, my friends, is signs of one sad, backwards party. It's also why the liberals will lose in November. Forty-two
quade 4 #84 September 5, 2004 Quote Personally, I'd prefer that they tell us what they're really thinking, rather than sugar coat it for public consumption. Tom, you're a smart guy, do you think -any- politician tells us what they're really thinking? I think generally the only time that happens is when they go "off script", which is usually a director of communications' nightmare. And really, I don't need that either. Lemme ask you a serious question. Do you think that when you vote for the President you're voting for one man or a team (the head of which is supposedly the one man)? I think it's a team. You vote for (for instance) GWB and you also vote for everyone that goes with him. Two of those people you're going to hear from quite a bit; The President and The Press Secretary. That said, there is a huge team behind the scenes forming policy and opinions. You're -never- going to hear what those people -really- think because for the most part it's all filtered through the President and the Press Secretary. All of -that- said, I think people vote for the President mostly with their emotions. They identify with the public image of -a- man that represents a team. That image may or may not be reality. Honestly, I think the public persona really isn't who -anybody- is. Neither of these men is really who they appear to be in the public eye. There is a very old saying, "Character is what you have when nobody is looking." And at this point in time -- everybody is looking.quade - The World's Most Boring Skydiver
quade 4 #85 September 5, 2004 Quote All the liberals want is another liberal in the White House regardless of his qualifications and leadership abilities. The other possibility is that people simply don't think GWB is the person they want to represent our country. If I say I'd rather do anything than get bent over and screwed up the poop shoot, that doesn't necessarily mean I -want- to do something else, it might simply mean I want to stop getting screwed.quade - The World's Most Boring Skydiver

TomAiello 26 #89 September 5, 2004 QuoteI think it's a team. Actually, I think it's more like voting for a team captain. He's got a team when you vote for him, but he's allowed to change it later, without consulting you. QuoteI think people vote for the President mostly with their emotions.
