quade 4 #1 August 31, 2004 How do we all feel about this topic? Ought to be interesting to see what George P. Bush has to say about it tonight at the convention. http://www.cnn.com/2000/ALLPOLITICS/stories/08/03/bush.young/ He's scheduled to speak tonight.quade - The World's Most Boring Skydiver

quade 4 #3 September 1, 2004 Well, I don't know that I have any solutions, but I do see a couple of problems. I think it might depend on where you live in the country, but in SoCal, we're taking a pretty big hit on social services and even some fairly conservative radio talk show hosts are pretty hopping mad at the entire government for only paying lip service to tightening up the borders. In fact, one program, the John & Ken Show on Clear Channel station KFI in Los Angeles is staging what they call "Political Human Sacrifice" http://www.johnandkenshow.com/ Their premise is that clearly the Democrats are too liberal to do anything about it, but so are the Republicans so what they're proposing is to vote OUT a Republican incumbent to prove to the party that California is serious about the issue. What I find facinating is they don't seem to make the connection all the way up the chain to The White House. As we saw last night on the GOP convention, we're in a war on terror. Now, I don't know about you, but to me when the bad guys are outside, I lock the doors and we've pretty much done that for all of the offical points of entry, but clearly when it comes to the southern border of the US, it's still pretty porous and if illegals are getting through on a regular basis -- well, a terrorist isn't going to have too much of a problem either. George P is the family's connection south of the border.quade - The World's Most Boring Skydiver
quade 4 #4 September 1, 2004 Well, George P. was all over the map. Made a couple of references to immigration in general, but nothing too specific. Moved on to No Child Left Behind as well as a couple of other soft topics. Finished up with the Statue of Liberty quote. Dang. I thought he might have been interesting.quade - The World's Most Boring Skydiver

ltdiver 3 #6 September 1, 2004 On another slant to the subject. Why do those south of the border seek extradition back to their country for a crime when they won't send the criminals -we- seek back for trial here? See the latest event HERE. Yeah, lock your doors... ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon
cruzit 0 #7 September 1, 2004 It makes you feel any better, I have seen a total of one illegal transferred via treaty transfer in my 15+ years with the federal prison system. It just doesn't happen. Most don't even want to go to Mexico because all their family live in the states. Go figure.

My guess without reading the article is the death penalty. Ok, read the article, still my answer.
cruzit 0 #9 September 1, 2004 Nope...there aren't that many "illegals" on death row. The prison systems in Mexico...I know this will come a shock to most of you...tend to be run a little differently than those in the states. Most illegals hope by getting transferred back to Mexico they can get all or part of their sentences commuted.
ltdiver 3 #10 September 2, 2004 Quote Most don't even want to go to Mexico because all their family live in the states. Go figure. Guess I didn't word my question correctly, so as to be completely understood. I don't care what the criminals want. I believe a sod like that -should- be extradited back to the scene of their crime. No matter their nationality. What I don't like is that Mexico wants us to extradite those who commit a crime -there- and flee to the U.S. Mexico is asking that we send them back for trial.....then on the flip side, Mexico won't send the scum bags back -here- when they need to go on trial for something heinous they've done in the states! They want it both ways. And I think perhaps PhillyKev has it right. It's our death penalty. So, is it really a deterant to crime, this 'pay for a death with a death' for those who run away towards the equator....over the border? ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon

George P is the family's connection south of the border. I extracted the following information out of the August 2004 copy of "The Judicial Watch Verdict" news publication from Judicial Watch. QUOTE As part of what it called "routine information gathering," Border Patrol officials commissioned a 13-question survey that included at least one question pertaining to the "guest worker program." The Bush Administration shut down the survey when it learned illegals were reporting that the proposed amnesty proposals influenced their decision to cross the borders. Furthermore, using a union contract rule, the Bush Administration reportedly muzzled Border Patrol agents by threatening to fire them if they spoke to anyone about the survey and its results..... Perhaps most disturbing, published reports suggest that many of these illegal immigrants were, OTM, or "Other than Mexican," coming from Southwest Asia, Indonesia and other centers of Islamic fundalmentalism.Do your part for global warming: ban beans and hold all popcorn farts.
