turtlespeed 226 #1 August 31, 2004 Why didn't I get to see the RNC while the DNC was shoved down my throat? No major media outlet showed the RNC last night? (Except for Fox, and some cable channels) Why not? The DNC got at least 1 hour of prime time every night and then the last was covered from start to finish. What ever happened to equal time?I'm not usually into the whole 3-way thing, but you got me a little excited with that. - Skymama BTR #1 / OTB^5 Official #2 / Hellfish #408 / VSCR #108/Tortuga/Orfun

OnYourBack 0 #3 August 31, 2004 As I understand from the news yesterday, the networks get to opt out of one night of coverage. It will be shown for one hour each remaining night.

PhillyKev 0 #5 August 31, 2004 Don't know about last night, but CNN this morning was all RNC all the time.

PhillyKev 0 #7 August 31, 2004 I honestly don't recall any of them showing the DNC convention, either. Then again, I didn't really care to watch a dog and pony show.
CanuckInUSA 0 #8 August 31, 2004 Dude you didn't miss anything. It's the same old message. War and terrorism. That's all GWB wants the public to think about anyway. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over

quade 4 #11 August 31, 2004 All of this is negotiated -well- in advance and the -exact- same amount of coverage is given to both conventions at each of the big three networks. Three hours in prime-time spread over four days -- the -exact- same amount of time given to the Democratic convention. Nobody at the networks is stupid enough (almost but not quite) to give a minute more or less to one side than the other and like I said, this is all negotiated well in advance by both parties and the nets. Full gavel-to-gavel coverage is provided by CNN, MSNBC, C-Span, and PBS. Additionally, ABC, for instance, -is- providing gavel-to-gavel via the internet. http://abcnews.go.com/sections/abcnewsnow/index.htmlquade - The World's Most Boring Skydiver
PhillyKev 0 #12 August 31, 2004 Yep...and it only took a few seconds for you to do what the RNC has been doing all along. Taka a quote out of context about something that happened 30 years ago and use it. Your sig is proving the point that out of context character asassination is the main tactic of the right. quade 4 #13 August 31, 2004 PBS -did- cover it live. At least they did on the PBS feed we get here in the west. I can't speak for what your local station might have done. Anyway, to answer your basic question of why you didn't see it -- it appears as if you didn't care enough to look.quade - The World's Most Boring Skydiver

quade 4 #15 August 31, 2004 Quote PBS didn't air it. Well, so ya got me curious and I checked . . . Nope. -YOU- didn't look. KAMU-TV the PBS station for College Station, Texas did air the Republican Convention beginning at 7 pm. http://kamu-fm.tamu.edu/schedule/tv.php?format=short&date=2004-08-30&hour=16 Again, if you didn't see it, it's because you didn't look.quade - The World's Most Boring Skydiver
ltdiver 3 #16 September 1, 2004 Got PBS playing in my office. Got C-Span cued up on my computer. Got NBC playing in the living room. Waiting to see which gives the better coverage. Been sitting here since 6pm and only the internet started at 6. PBS started after that. NBC....well, it's still interviewing someone new every few minutes. No convention live coverage yet. And yeah, I looked. ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon
