happythoughts 0 #1 August 31, 2004 The economy is based on the strength of the middle class. The stock market isn't as much of an indicator as people think. The market could do extremely well and still have unemployment at high levels. For the projected number of jobs going offshore, the affected jobs will not be coming back. These jobs will not pay taxes in the US (no tax base) and not pay Social Security (eventually underfunding it). I don't believe that ANY administration or political party can affect it. Whoever is in the White House in the next 4 years is going to deal with US unemployment problems. Neither candidate has a solution. I personally see the economy getting a lot worse.
