mr2mk1g 10 #52 August 31, 2004 Anyone seen the film "Ransom"? I think the French Govt. could take their key from that film. Turn the demands back on the hostage takers. Ok: release the hostages within 24 hours or we'll send troops to support the coalition in Iraq! It would certainly make the terrorists think twice before killing them. Even if it didn't succeed this time, it might well the next time. It would be nice to see all countries that have been victim of this sort of attack jump on the bandwagon and every time a group takes one of their countrymen hostage, they should send more troops to Iraq. They’d get the message soon enough that taking hostages doesn’t work.
Erroll 80 #53 August 31, 2004 Quote Does god or the bible say or require that christians wear crucifixes? If not, then it's a personal choice -- pride, if you will -- that makes people wish to wear these little symbols of their religious affiliation. The wearing of headscarves is not merely symbolic of the Islamic faith. It serves a practical purpose (much like the burka) in line with the teachings of the Koran. Many females the world over wear headscarves, for a variety of different reasons. It is my opinion that the headscarf is in fact even less of a symbol than the star of David or a crucifix. France should not in this instance back down to terrorists, but I think the ban on headscarves is a counter-productive and 'dangerous' law.

And once we get the kidnappers, I'd do that "For once you have tasted Absinthe you will walk the earth with your eyes turned towards the gutter, for there you have been and there you will long to return." JohnRich 4 #55 August 31, 2004 QuoteOur current situation grew out of our past actions. You should be able to see that without my having to write an essay about it. So what I understand of your theory from your limited comments here is this: Osama Bin Laden attacked America because of the Christian Inquisition, which took place 500 years ago. O-kay...
