bodypilot90 0 #1 August 25, 2004 School started for our school system a couple weeks ago. They have a real shortage of bus drivers so they asked if any if the mechanics what some overtime. Well monday I drove a wheelchair bus with a drivers "aid" someone to help tie down the wheel chairs. This young lady was 25 and a grad of our fine school system. She was going to help me read the bus route. but at the third street she said turn at J-O-N-E-S street. A few streets over she said turn at O-H-I-O. This girl could not read. the numbered streets she did ok. She just missed having to take the FCAT. Sad.

Ron 10 #3 August 25, 2004 QuoteBlame the parents: http://www.dropzone.com/...post=1200041#1200041 I DO blame the parents. I also blame the school system for letting some one manage to make it through PASSING that can't read. This girls education is a waste of my tax money. If they can't read, they should not graduate Elementary school, much less high school."No free man shall ever be debarred the use of arms." -- Thomas Jefferson, Thomas Jefferson Papers,

I've known a couple of illiterate people, neither graduated but got much further than elementary. They were very very good at hiding their inability to read. Was it because of funding incentives? Was it because there were too few teachers for anyone to notice she was faking it? turtlespeed 226 #11 August 25, 2004 Well - com on Ron, you know how we are supposed to feell about competitiveness. I am pretty sure it was the red pens that were really to blame. You know how competitive and unrelenting those pens can be.I'm not usually into the whole 3-way thing, but you got me a little excited with that. - Skymama BTR #1 / OTB^5 Official #2 / Hellfish #408 / VSCR #108/Tortuga/Orfun

TomAiello 26 #13 August 25, 2004 Quote I am pretty sure it was the red pens that were really to blame. That was funny as hell. I'm color blind, so the words "red pens" were really hard for me to read. I kept staring at the text, trying to resolve a reddish blob, wondering "who's really to blame?"-- Tom Aiello Tom@SnakeRiverBASE.com SnakeRiverBASE.com

PhillyKev 0 #17 August 25, 2004 Actually their parents were poor. And like I said, mostly their fault. No idea what political inclination they were.
