Well contribution to the DNC is anyway - it doesn't cost to vote - they pay you sometimes, to vote democratic.

Go with Coke, Pepsi, or RC, you need a pick me up.

I don't think RC has caffeine . . . or sodium. Weird. :D

I think I'll stick with Dr. Pepper, thanks.
It's, at least in one certain area, still manufactured with real sugar, and not corn syrup.

You talk about supporting personal freedoms, but it's only as long as you're not a homosexual, want an abortion, want to join the ACLU, think that the pledge should return to its original form without "Under God", etc. . . .

I'm pretty sure that you misunderstand Kennedy's (and Libertarian's in general) position.

Supporting personal freedom includes sexual choice, abortion rights, and yes, even the ACLU, should you wish to join their crusade for civil privileges, and turn your back on civil rights.

Zell Miller is one of my favorite politicians. Have a read through his National Party No More.

It's also worth noting that he's probably the most popular public figure in a six state area, centered right about where you live.

I know. He's done wonderful things for our state, particularly when he was governor. But I feel like the other democrats should feel very betrayed by him speaking at RNC in support of Bush.

Actually, I think that Zell Miller is one of the few modern politicians with the stature to transcend party lines.

One of the things I like about American politics is how much more focused on the individual (rather than the party) it is, when compared to politics in most other places. I'm glad that American politicians can sometimes cross party lines--I wish it happened more often.

I guess I've never noticed it. I like the idea, but it's not something I see a lot of. But I also have nothing to compare it to, seeing as how I know absolutely zip about any other country's politics.

Agreed. I'm glad Miller is speaking at the RNC - we need more of that. I was disappointed when Jeffords was attacked so much for changing his party affiliation; in an ideal world, a politician should be voted for (and held accountable for) his decisions and his views rather than which party he belongs to.

I'm drinking a corn syrup style Dr. Pepper right now. I must say, though, that the sugar version is way better. Can't get that in the East anywhere that I know of, though. [:/]
