First let me give a HUGE congratulations to your SA Gold Medalist! That swim was awesome!

On the issue of Phelps, however....it wasn't him that said he was going for 8 Golds and a record. That was media speculation and hype. They wanted us to believe Phelps was on that mission of his own words and accord. Nada. It was -their- need to create a story (and ratings).

Thank you for the nice sentiments, Lori.

As for Phelps, I'm over him! He is a brilliant young swimmer with a bright future ahead of him and I will follow his career with interest.

A bit of irony regarding this whole issue:- To my knowledge three of the four South Africans in that relay team are on sholarships...... IN THE US of A!;)

Phelps is now the most decorated Olympian of all time. Well done.

Well done also to Le Clos. He is still only twenty - watch out for him in 2016!:)

How times change eh? I was at the Olympics yesterday watching the Skeet Shooting and was very happy for Vincent Hancock the American shooter who won Gold for the USA. He seemed like a really nice guy and a true sportsman and standing and watching him stand proudly with his hand over his heart while they played the Star spangled banner for him on the podium was quite moving. So far the USA are racking up the medals, well done to Team USA.

Nice pics there!

I've seen the (skeet) ladies, winner: Kimberly Rhode/US - bright smile, highly likeable girl. Was a great event!

BTW: I never heard or ever have noticed anywhere that people are *cheering* if the US lost, no matter what it might be.

(Of course, war situations like Afghanistan or Iraq f.e. are completely different. Iraqi troops are cheering over dead US bodies, US troops are pissing on dead enemy bodies, so what ..)

No no, methinks most people like US people .... B|
