feuergnom 29 #1 August 3, 2004 After hanging around in the forums I have finally realized one thing I was obviously missing in the past: that the U S of A is the biggest & the best nation on this lousy planet, it’s citizens are top-notch in human evolution, everything origination from the U.S. is unequaled, nobody does things better than your nation blahblahblah.... everybody who dares to question this attitude (especially if he/she is not a U.S. citizen) is shouted at, flamed, called with names or put down/attacked in some other way maybe some of the posters on dz.com should realize one thing: this place isn't run exclusively for U.S.-people and the opinions/thoughts of others are by no way inferior & definitely worth a closer look /rant & vent over/The universal aptitude for ineptitude makes any human accomplishment an incredible miracle dudeist skydiver #

mnealtx 0 #6 August 3, 2004 Feel better now? Look, everyone has at least a little bit of national pride, and everyone is going to take offense to their country being bashed. Right now, it looks like it's our turn, so yeah, we do tend to get a bit defensive when people that don't live here light off on us.Mike I love you, Shannon and Jim. Stumpy 284 #9 August 3, 2004 Fair enough, but like i say, being born, living and working in the uk i haven't found this. sure you get the odd guy who thinks there is nothing outside the us, but thats true of every country (and those posters actually tend to disappear pretty quickly). every dealing i have had with the US, every poster who i have asked a question of has been way more friendly and helpful than i ever would expect from anyone..... sure they all take the piss at times but so do i, its all part of the fun! I'm not having a go at you, i'm just not quite sure where you are coming from?Never try to eat more than you can lift
Icon134 0 #10 August 3, 2004 I agree many americans are proud of the fact that they are from the US and often we tend to step on other cultures/countries toes. Sooner or later that attitude might very well get us into trouble. It is difficult to have others telling you that you that you are bad because of one thing or another and not get defensive. (i.e. defending ourselves when someone says something about our home) We are raised to believe certain things just as someone else from a different country is raised to believe certain things. Unfortunately the US is also chalked full of people that left where ever it was they were to find something better and if/when they do they're quite proud of that fact. That's all I have to say about that. Scott P. S. Like several others I think this needs to make its way to the speakers corner... cause if it was there then I wouldn't read it... (I don't like speakers corner...)

Tekla 0 #12 August 3, 2004 Sure there are some people on here with an attitude problem. Sure there are some people on here who are highly opinionated. Sure there are some people on here who are narrow minded. Sure there are some people on here who think they are superior to others. Sure there are some people on here who's ego constantly write cheques their body can't cash . Sure there are more Americans on this site than from any other country.........and it may be that last point that gives the illusion that all the opinionated, narrow minded, egotistical people with attitude problems and delusions of grandure come from the States. But I have to say that you get those kind of people wherever you go and whichever nation you care to write a label for. There happens to be Americans on here who are helpful, friendly, informative, supporting and a damn good laugh which kind of dilutes the pool of [paraphrasing] bad, nasty Americans [end paraphrasing] your trying to paint a picture of. PS : I'm British. Lu-"let the beast beware"-cy .

kelel01 1 #14 August 3, 2004 I really see this moving to SC, but I'll say my piece anyway . . . I don't 100% disagree. I think Americans have a tendency to be very elitist and nationalistic, both bad things in my book. I disagree with the harshness present in the post, but not the idea behind it. If I am against the war, I'm branded a traitor who "doesn't support the troops", which could not be farther from the truth. I support them by wanting to bring them home to their families to see their children grow up, and if that makes me un-American, then I say fine, I'm un-American. Too bad for the rest of you who aren't. Again, not angry, just trying to show that he has a valid point, misrepresented though it may be. And some of you proved exactly what he was talking about with your responses . . . Kelly
