What will they do?

Ahhh . . . source?

I -seriously- would like to get my hands on a transcript of her remarks but I haven't found one.

Sorry, I can't find anything referencing the big "C", I really do think though that I read something about that after the event. Anyhow, in the absense of the specific example I mentioned most of the articles I've read do make a point similar to this:

I can't find a transcript either, but the good folks at Slim-Fast might have a copy . . .

I would expect the same of a republican fundraiser if people wanted to see it.

Don't be naive. People on here are saying they acted like jackasses and describing what they said without even having seen it. What do you think Bush wants it for. Because he's sure the stories are untrue and wants to prove it to the world? They're looking for footage they can use in campaign ads and for sound bites on the news. The democrats would do the same thing. And the republicans wouldn't give them the tape either.

If I came to you as a reporter doing a story on the dangers of skydiving and the subversive culture surrounding it and said, hey Jimbo, remember that bday party at the dz you had where you and a bunch of other skydivers got drunk and did a bunch of stupid stuff? I hear that some of the stuff you did was embarassing, vulgar and obscene. Think I could get a copy of the tape?

It's also funny how they went out and acted themselves when there were no cameras rolling...but now that they will be in front of a national televison audience, then they have to have a meeting to decide how they will act.

I would prefer a president who acts naturally all the time and not one who has to have advisers counsel him and tell him how to act.

You weren't around in 1999-2000? Bush didn't blow his nose without advisor consultation during that election bid. Later, the carrier landing stunt or "mission accomplished" was as hollywood as it gets.

Don't be naive - most of what you see from Bush and Kerry will be scripted. The only reason the debates have any value is that it is slightly less scripted.

I'm not naive. I don't expect that it would happen, however, as a matter of decency and forthcomingness (is that a word?) I would expect it to be released. The point is, if you're out to represent me then don't go places and do things that you're not so proud of.

Probably not. However, I'm not running for public office and as such I am not putting my character on the line as a reason that you should vote for me.

I wonder why?!

Well, I can give you what is probably the real reason, but you're probably not going to agree with it.

The artists probably had contracts that said video of the performances couldn't be used for anything.

This is standard.

Ok, well then I have to ask along the lines of what Kerry asked in response. Why are conservatives so quick to defend Bush and Cheney for refusing to release transcripts of meetings with Ken Lay (SEC Indictment) while shaping the nations energy policy. The General Accounting Administration for the federal gov't had to file suit to try and find out what was discussed between the CEO of a major oil company and our elected representative while deciding what role oil will have in our national energy policy. Not that a meeting of the sort shouldn't take place. But considering the alleged character of the oil company exec, and the VP's ties to the oil industry, don't you think that deserves a little scrutiny?

That seems a lot more relevant and worthy of examination to show the character of the man running for office.

1) I think that the transcripts should be made public unless there is a compelling need to keep them secret. I can't think of a reasonable one.

2) Both deserve scrutiny. However, when evaluating character, I don't know that one is more important or unimportant than the other. They're all part of a larger picture.

3) Let's get back to talking about the subject at hand, in this case, the release of the tape of the Kerry/Edwards fundraiser (Quade, so far, has provided the only legitimate reason to keep it out of the public eye).

Other than it being a private affair for the democratic national committee? Hell, Nixon almost got impeached for peeking in their filing cabinets. It is absolutely naive to think that either political party is ever going to release tape of private functions at the request of the other political party.

And now we're back to why. What have they got to hide? (I'd be asking the same question if it were a Republican fundraiser that got such awful press.) If they do have something to hide then maybe they shouldn't be doing that, or condoning that type of behaviour. Now I'm repeating myself (and it seems that you are too), looks like this one is about done.

What would be wrong with the Republicans using footage of things that Democrat supporters actually said and did in an effort to make people see the actual mentality of Democrat supporters -- AND the Democrats that they were speaking in support of?

I think it would be rather enlightening to see someone who would be president laughing his ass off at someone (allegedly) calling his political opponent a "c*nt."

If he were not proud of it, he shouldn't have laughed at it; he should be admitting that she said it; he should be admitting it was wrong, immature and undecorous of her to say it; and he should be renouncing it. But he is not.

I suspect he is simply embarrassed of the very people who support him, and with good reason.

What a non-issue this is. Boo hoo, he won't release video footage of his reaction to a comedy routine. What possible reason would he have to do so? Will you think better of him? It's a no win situation. Release the footage, it's exploited and used to embarass him. Don't release it, that's used to exploit and embarass him. When faced with those 2 outcomes, why would he choose the one that's a hassle and being requested by his opponents for no other reason than to attack his character? Whoopi wasn't shaping his stance on nuclear arms proliferation for christ's sake. But I bring up the Bush team secrecy regarding issues of national importance and that's ok. That's off topic. That SHOULD be the topic. Not this silly ass shit.

Man, you guys really learned how to attack everything about Kerry, including what he find humorous.

Here, I'll say it, I find it amusingly appropriate that Bush's name is an alternate slang word for cunt. Let the flaming begin.

If this were Whoopi's stand up routine at the Laugh Stop, it would be a non issue, it wasn't... It was a fund raiser, and Kerry gave, at ther very least, his tacit approval by not objecting right then and there... It goes to his character, particularly when you add it to other statements that Kerry has made when he thought he was off tape... Dems are making issue of Bush's character all over the place...

I don't blame the Dems for not releasing the tape... I is a good political move, why subject yourself to it... much like Bush not going to the NAACP, which I also think was a good move.

I found that funny too...back in the third grade. Once the fourth grade hit it just lost its humor. Some people still giggle at juvenile things. To each is his own.

With Bush, Dick and Colin I bet you keep yourself amused for hours.

The RNC respond in kind? Surely you're jesting. I can't recall the Bush campaign running the smear campaign the lefties have run against him. If so, GWB would have unloaded on the man by now.

I doubt they'll tone it down. The leftists have long been the masters of politics of personal destruction - Bork, Thomas, GWB, Ashcroft, et al can attest to that. The right is now starting to dish out - a lot less than they have a right to - and already the leftists are whining. They should be GLAD I'm not running the PR for the Republican party - a few days ago at a bridge in Massachussetts would have seen GWB announcing NATIONAL DUI AWARENESS DAY and sponsoring a Ted Kennedy postage stamp in its honor.

so if i look in your past posts, i won't find you ever telling a fart joke, saying you like south park, or laughing at a dirty juvenille joke?

i find that very very hard to believe.

Wow, that's amazing to be so partisan that you could make that statement. You yourself smear him at every opportunity. What's the difference between sKerry in terms of smears, from comparing Bush to a cunt? Both are plays on their names.

That would be unbelievably stupid given that the GWB was CONVICTED for the same offense.

Would be like a klansman kicking off a racial tolerance day.
