Skerry Butt fun

Recommended Posts

Just thought you'd enjoy this.:D:D

During a campaign tour of the Apache Nation
Wednesday, Democratic presidential candidate John
Kerry said he had a plan to increase every Native
American's income by $40,000 a year. Senator Kerry
refused repeated requests for details of his plan,
however. He also told the Apaches that during his
Senate career, he has voted YES 9,637 times for
every Indian issue ever introduced.

Before his departure, the Apache Tribe presented
the Presidential candidate a plaque inscribed with
his new Indian name, Running Eagle. After Kerry
left, tribal officials explained that Running Eagle
is a bird so full of shit it can't fly.

I would think that if you were going to write a joke (and clearly Turtle -didn't- actually write this one -- he's just reposted it) then I'd think you'd have the good sense to not use a name that is the name of an actual and rather famous native American chief.

The last I heard Navajos are not any of the Apache tribes.

I'm thinking they might have similar political interests. I googled native american presidential endorsement and that's the first thing I came up with.

This one's probably too recent to get snoped.

I've seen this joke several times over the past month. I don't even think turtle was trying to pass this off as a news story.

right - I would have passed this off as a news story ONLY IF IT WAS - I offer links when available.

Is that anything like taking God's name in vain? He used the name of an actual and rather famous US Senator. Is that also taboo. Or did we wake up on the overly sensitive side of the bed today?

Why does the fact that he is an old chief make a difference?
Do you have the same disruption of right and wrong when someone uses Ronald Reagan in a joke - or how about - George Bush?

Last I heard - Commander In Chief was still a Title held by the POTUS.

What I'm saying is . . . if you're going to make up a joke, the punchline shouldn't be something that is supposed to mean one thing in the context of the joke, but in reality means something quite different to those that know better -- especially if the joke relys on a "translation" from the people that would know the difference.

The joke, as written, only is funny if you don't know that Running Eagle was the name of a fairly famous and fairly unique female native American chief. If you know that little piece of triva, then the joke not only falls apart, but points out the ignorance and racism of the person that wrote it.

Every body's pissed because they thought you were trying to pass off a joke as news. I'm pissed because I misread the subject as 'Butt fun' only to find a joke about Kerry :S

Well why do you think the eagle had the runs?

Paul - I think you over sensitised yourself to the subject matter - being a sKerry supporter - LOL- no I won't go there either - you needed to justify a way to try to nullify the joke.

It's still funny and now - even funnier since Keith jumped in and "propped" it up a bit.

Who said I was a Kerry supporter?

I'm mad as hell I didn't have a say in the matter. That some folks in a state with a population smaller than the county I live in made the choice for me. That totally sucks.

So, while I'm very much against GWB remaining in office and while Kerry seems like the only way to remove GWB from office -- that doesn't really mean I support him. He's just the lesser of two evils.

That out of the way -- I was ONLY making comments on the comedic nature of the joke, of which, I thought it only had limited value since . . . well, I know who Running Eagle actually was.

For instance, would the joke have been "funny" if they had used "Sitting Bull"? Well, no, because you know (or certainly should know) who Sitting Bull was. That's all.

LOL

Actually the joke's punchline would have been different and they would have had to use Bush.

So, let me get this straight. Since TS didn't know that Running Eagle was the name of a real indian chief, that makes him racist? Did I get that right? Had he chosen a different name, let's say Sprinting Eagle, that wouldn't be racist, right?
