tunaplanet 0 #1 July 19, 2004 Clicky Ronstadt was kicked out of a hotel in Vegas for doing what no celebrity should do...use their status to push their political views on us. When are they going to learn that we don't give a hairy fuck what they think? Give up blurting out your distorted political views and stick to singing, "Love is like a heatwave" and all those other cheesy duets you did with James Ingram and Aaron Neville. billvon 3,118 #3 July 19, 2004 >Ronstadt was kicked out of a hotel in Vegas for doing what no celebrity >should do...use their status to push their political views on us. ?? Rich people use their money to do that all the time. Celebrities are no different. Everyone has the right to say pretty much whatever they want, no matter what their position in life, popularity, wealth or job. Fortunately you can choose not to listen. >When are they going to learn that we don't give a hairy fuck what they >think? When we stop voluntarily paying their salaries. I have a feeling that won't happen anytime soon. Few people are going to stop buying Springsteen records because of his often-stated political views. ChileRelleno 0 #6 July 19, 2004 Chiles word for Ronstadt- Has-been, thats why, its just as sad a sight as David Lee Roth or the Rolling Stones(now their scary looking) trying to drag his/their has-been butt/s across a stage. Pathetic... I grew up with these folks and enjoyed their music but sooner or later you have to throw in the towel... Sooner would have been preferable in these cases. They had every right to kick her out based on that. The most despicable acts described in that article are those of the people commiting vandalism on the way out because she dedicated a song to someone. PhillyKev 0 #14 July 19, 2004 Point proven. You praise the hotel for kicking her out, but would have vandalized their property anyway. I would expect no less. Why not just rush the stage and beat her to a pulp?

In the "clicky" article, I saw NO MENTION of acts of vandalism by anyone. They said that people asked for their money back, and some walked out of the show. billvon 3,118 #17 July 19, 2004 > Then ya gotta love the Hotel using ITS right to kick her the fuck out for >not knowing when it's APPROPRIATE to start shrieking your political views. They made it clear that the reason they kicked her out is that their customers were not enjoying her show, which is a perfectly valid reason. The funny thing is that she's been saying this in every other show this summer. The only time it's made it to the press is when she got kicked out for saying it. So ironically, the hotel's actions gave her a national forum for her views (a foru that Tunaplanet echoed here on DZ.com) where otherwise they would have been ignored. For many political activists, the holy grail is to get kicked out of something/arrested/harassed with a reporter present.

I come to DZ.COM to talk about skydiving, not to listen to people blabber their misguided and skewed politcal ideas. Okay I know this is the "Speakers Corner" where people are allowed to spew their political views. But maybe you can see a similarity between what you just said, what I said and how people are supposedly free to speak their own minds in this country. Or are the only people who are allowed to vent their views the ones who see the world the same way you see it? Look, it's not an issue of how far and wide people end up hearing that she likes Michael Moore. It's what they decide to do or not do based on that knowledge. It is not necessarily a positive thing for HER, to have everyone know this and for the story to get more publicity. That would depend on how many people LIKE her for liking Moore, or DISLIKE her for liking Moore. It's not as simple as, "My story got out so that's good for me." --Jeffrey "With tha thoughts of a militant mind... Hard line, hard line after hard line!"
