>So you are saying that mere association is an indication of credibility?

The people they choose to associate with indicate their preferences, yes. If Michael Moore partnered with a new film company to produce a documentary, and someone suggested the new film company was a right-wing film company, what would your reply be?

My reply would be "what is the movie about"? You are assuming just because Disney associated themselves with a firm that is right wing that makes them the same. I thought McCarthyism was dead.

BTW this movie looks like it would be really good.

Dude, we just went to WAR partially because we thought Hussein had some association with Al Qaeda, even though every bit of intelligence we had pointed to them hating each other. Now you're saying we shouldn't pay attention to associations? Which is it?

>I thought McCarthyism was dead.

Not at all! We just call them "terrorists" now instead of "communists."

If the movie was one that promoted the right wing mantra about a political issue, I'd agree with you. However, from what I can see as of now, it doesn't. Certainly not in the way Moores' movie did.

I don't assume Speilbergs movies promote a left wing agenda even though I know he's a left winger either. If Disney associates itself with a left wing PR Copmpany, for a childrens cartoon, will you change your view? If not, why not?

>So is it your contention that Disney, Newcorp and Viacom are slanted to the right?

Disney recently partnered with Move America Forward, a right-wing propaganda organization run by the GOP PR firm Russo Marsh and Rogers. They got together to present a movie called "America's Heart and Soul". Keep in mind this is also the organization that refused to release "Farenheight 9/11."

Oh right Disney!, I guess I should go there again. Hell maybe rent a Disney movie tonight. Wait! isn't this the same Disney that had the gay days that filled the entire theme park with gays performing lewd acts in front of children. That hardly sounds like a right wing organization to me.

You're thinking of Pee Wee Herman or Michael Jackson. Disney had no days that highlighted gays performing lewd acts in front of children. They do have a day that local gay organizations encourage gays to go to the park, but that was the idea of a local gay event planner, not Disney's. Disney didn't even acknowledge the event until two years after it had begun, and they make no effort to promote or push it.

Surely you don't think Disney should ban people from their park based on their sexual orientation?

No I don't think they should ban anybody based on sexual orientation but I have seen footage of that day at Disney and they are performing lewd acts in the Majic Kingdom which is always full of children. I think based on some of those acts they should be escorted out of the park. I think a dresscode should be maintained to be in the park and sexual acts should not be occuring in plain view.

if someone complains, disney can and WILL escort people out of the park if they are a "detriment to the family atmosphere of Disneyland".

They don't much care about couples, gay or straight, holding hands or kissing, but much more than that will get almost anyone booted out of the park if someone sees.

Like what?

People were having sex in plain view?? If that's the case then I agree they should be asked to leave, regardless of their sexual orientation.

A dress code? In a place where people dress like dogs, mice, Peter Pan, and where transvestitism is a job requirement (you're expected to be able to wear character costumes regardless of whether your sex matches that of the character's) it would be a little silly to have a dress code. Unless you want to bust Peter Pan for being played by a woman, that is.

***17.You have to believe that Ann Coulter is normal and really a very nice person

yes, I do like Ann and I think she does a great job!

Stereotyping of any kind on either side is at least good comic relief :D:Dif nothing else.......:S

Oh and.........

9.You have to believe that hunting requires an automatic rifle.

Doesn't require one but sure makes it easier to mow them down those endangered species:P

I am not talking about transvestism. If an effort is made to pass that is fine. I am talking about going half naked buttless chaps or taking clothes of for sexual acts.

I've seen a lot of women wearing bikini tops at Disneyland; some were well worth looking at - at least for me, but then again I'm a heterosexual guy. But I agree, anyone who performs sex acts should be shown the door. From what Kris said, it sounds like they _are_ shown the door. So your argument is that Disney is a left wing organization because they treat gays like anyone else does? If they excluded gays, they'd be right wing? Do you have to be a homophobe to be a right winger? I know a lot of right wingers who aren't homophobes.

I just found the other post so ridiculous, and KAllend posted the link, I had to post this so hopefully the other side could see how ridiculous generalizations really are, and stop the labeling and name calling...

How to be a good republican
1.You have to believe that the AIDS virus is spread because people are evil and should be punished.

2.You have to believe that the evolution is a myth that shouldn't be taught in schools, despite the evidence of biochemistry and the fossil record.

3.You have to believe that there is no causal link between legal, easily-obtainable handguns and high murder rates.

4.You have to believe that unfunded arts and school programs are still subject to government control.

5.You have to believe that global temperatures are completely unaffected by fossil fuel emissions, that the best way to save the national forests is to allow logging companies to cut down old-growth timber, and the best way to save endangered species is to allow trophy hunters and wildlife traders to import more of them.

While fossil fuels may affect the atmosphere, volcanoes have produced more pollution in shorter time periods and the atmosphere dealt with it just fine.

6.You have to believe that homosexuality is evil (despite the fact that it occurs in nature) and that women should stay at home to cook and bear children.

Homosexuality is not evil. It is not natural.
The destruction of the family is arguably the biggest reason for the decline of our society.

7.You have to be against abortion but support capital punishment

Aborted children are innocent.

8.You have to believe that businesses never purposely hurt anyone to make money.

Hospitals help people to make money. Making money is bad?

9.You have to believe that hunting requires an automatic rifle.

Automatic rifles are highly regulated since 1934 and banned from manufacture since 1986 driving their price out of reach of most normal people. A legal M16 is over ten thousand dollars now.
Semi automatic hunting rifles which are functionally no different than so called "assault wepons" are quite popular and very handy for hunting.

10.You have to believe that inherited wealth is more important than actually doing something to earn it.

There is something wrong with a gift from your parents that they spent a lifetime earning and had to die to give to you? Explain.

11.You have to believe that war is an acceptable solution to any economic or social problem.

War has never solved anything....except: Slavery, facism, nazism and communism.

12.You have to believe that everyone should support the troops - except when it comes to paying them.

This admistration sponsored the largest pay increase for the military in years. John Kerry voted against it.

13.You have to believe the NRA is good because it supports certain parts of the Constitution, while the ACLU is bad because it supports certain parts of the Constitution.

The NRA was first in line to sue over the McCain Feingold campaign finance reform bill, the biggest infringment on our first amendment rights in history. Has the ACLU ever sued over a 2A law?

14.You have to believe that taxes are for poor and middle class people, not the rich.

Less than ten percent of the people (the rich) pay ninety percent of the taxes. Corporations pay no taxes...they pass the cost on to the consumer.

15.You have to believe that Oliver North and Monica Lewinsky are more important to American history than Martin Luther King and Robert Kennedy.

Monica Lewinski is an adultress. Colonel North should not be mentioned in the same sentence.
Dont get me started on MLK. He wasnt the 'saint' you all think.

16.You have to believe that affirmative action is wrong, while still supporting discrimination against minorities.

Discrimination in any form is wrong. We are against affirmative action because it discriminates against white people.

17.You have to believe that Ann Coulter is normal and really a very nice person.

Ann Coulter is a highly intelligent woman who pulls no punches and isnt afraid to tell it like it is.
Have you ever met her? On what do base your belief she is not normal? Because she doesnt agree with you?

18.You have to believe that the only reason supply-side economics hasn't worked anywhere it's been tried is because the right people haven't been in charge.

Explain how it doesnt work. I can give you thousands of examples of how socialism doesnt work.

19.You have to believe liberals telling the truth belong in jail, but a liar and draft-dodger belongs in the White House.

Liar and draft dodger? You must talking of Clinton. He perjured himself and was in England during the VN war.

20.You have to believe that the Ten Commandments should be displayed in every public building regardless of the fact that not everyone in America is a Christian.

The Ten Commandments are bad or offensive in what way? The Ten Commandments are Jewish, by the way.

21.You have to believe that illegal Republican Party funding by corporations is somehow in the best interest of the United States.

Selling the Lincoln bedroom to Chinese nationals for campaign contributions is good? McCain Feingold was precipitated by illegal campaign funds that the Clinton admin solicited.
Oh ya. George Soros.

22.You have to believe that the media are biased toward liberals, despite the fact that all the major media outlets are owned by ultra-rich conservatives.

Bwahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha!!!!!!!

Aids just like Syphilis and gonaria and what have you typically do not happen to people who don't whore around.

Unless you're the wife or unborn child of some guy who whores around - and refuses to use a condom to protect his wife, for any number of stupid religious, or traditional "reasons". The third world is full of sick and dying orphans because the old man gave it to mom and she had no say about it.

i think the whole point of the original list was that you should read the Republican/Democrat bits side by side.

Yes. If you look at any one comment by itself, most of them are greatly exaggerated, and if you look at either side of the list by itself, it's so easy to sharpshoot.

So, taking that into account, here's one side-by-side that's puzzled me for some time about the extremes of both:

...a Democrat
You have to believe that fathers are an optional part of parenting, especially if the mother is financially independent.

...a Republican:
You have to believe that two parents are better than one. Except if the parents are gay in which case one parent is better than two.
