PhillyKev 0 #1 July 16, 2004 An aquaintence of mine is a reporter for the local FOX affiliate. She told me this story last night.... She was on a train to DC with Joe Biden of DE and was interviewing him. After the interview he started speaking candidly to her off the record. He told her that there was a bill going through congress that GWB was pushing to get passed. Biden was leading the opposition to the bill. GWB asked Biden to the oval office for a sit down about it. While there, they came to an impasse and it was clear Biden was not going to change his position. GBW then grabbed him by his jacket lapels, pulled him forward and got right in his face, and shouted at him, "I will get the bill passes you son of a bitch." Biden grabbed him back in the same manner and shouted, "No you won't, Mr. President." Thought that was an interesting story about the high and mighty strong moral character of our President. pajarito 0 #3 July 16, 2004 I don't doubt there might have been serious straight talk, however, this sounds like a "fish story." It sounds like it might be exaggerated a bit. I doubt it was so dramatic. However, I could be wrong.
PhreeZone 20 #4 July 16, 2004 I'm trying to find what this bill could possibly be, any clues? I'm looking at Jefferson.loc.gov for voting records, but they do not have the debates online.Yesterday is history And tomorrow is a mystery Parachutemanuals.com

PhillyKev 0 #6 July 16, 2004 No....I did ask her but she didn't remember. It wasn't a recent event. It may be exhagerated but I've read a few other anecdotal incidents regarding Bush and his political tactics, including threatening to beat people up when he was gov of Texas if they didn't vote his way. markd_nscr986 0 #7 July 16, 2004 second hand of second hand of second hand........surely you can do better than that?and I know GWB would have called his "pit bull' Cheney in to take care of "tail gunner" Joe......tell him to f*#@ off or eat S#@% and die or somethingMarc SCR 6046 SCS 3004
PhillyKev 0 #8 July 16, 2004 To clarify, I'm relating a story told to me that was told to someone else. So I'm not claiming any validity or exactness of the quotes. But like I said, I've read of similar stories regarding Bush, and this came to me from 3 degrees of separation from the man himself. In fact I recall a similar story in the WSJ about a month ago about how he had threatened to "kick your ass" when dealing with somone over a political issue as gov. of texas. PhillyKev 0 #10 July 16, 2004 Yes, I'm relating a story, I didn't make any false claims about it's legitimacy, I told you exactly what the sources were. I believe the story is true and I'm drawing a conlustion from it. I'm just not going to try and claim to you all that I was a personal witness to the events. Would you rather I tell you that I was in the oval office and witnessed the events?
lawrocket 3 #11 July 16, 2004 Frankly, I would not doubt that the story is true. My impression is that over the past few years, the Presidency has been operating on the "Mob Boss" level. It's nothing new, but it's a shame. Mess with the POTUS, and you'll face the consequences. My wife is hotter than your wife.
lifewithoutanet 0 #12 July 16, 2004 QuoteAn aquaintence of mine is a reporter for the local FOX affiliate. She told me this story last night.... Hmmm... Does that make it Fair and Balanced? Just poking holes with a little subtle irony. Fox is rarely quoted as a source against Bush. I know this is an affiliate and not Fox News Channel, but I had to chuckle when I read that. As to the heresay... When I lived in DC, a close friend of mine was a producer for NBC's Today show in their DC office. She had a lot of interesting anecdotes she'd tell us about, most of which were hilarious. Some of the more unbelievable ones were just that...completely unbelievable. She'd hear reports of something happening, often from other reporters or staff as the story made its rounds. But she'd been there when those 'somethings' happened and typically the more 'damaging' it was to someone's moral character, the further it was from the truth. Just my $.02. -C. Gravitymaster 0 #13 July 16, 2004 I bet you GWB could kick Bidens ass. You should do some reading about LBJ, Eisenhower, Nixon and Clinton. Seems they all had somewhat of a temper. Dick Morris tells a story of Clinton tackling him and the two of them wrestling around on the floor in the White House.

I'd bet a few people on this forum have been in the faces of other people - half of the more immature of them actually strut and brag about it on these forums. ... Jib 0 #15 July 16, 2004 I guess even at Fox, journalists lack any integrity. Off the record means that I am telling you something in confidence, not for dissemination. PhillyKev 0 #16 July 16, 2004 Yeah, ok. Off the record means, don't include it in your interview. If you don't want people to know something, then don't tell them. QuoteIf people in the press could shut the fuck up, we'd have bin Laden (satelite phone tracking). If Bush and Rumsfeld would have sent more than 11,000 troops to Afghanistan 2 months after 9/11 we'd have had him, too.

Dagny 0 #24 July 16, 2004 QuoteThought that was an interesting story about the high and mighty strong moral character of our President. Disregarding the questionable validity of the story, I have to wonder how Bush's inflamed response serves as a measure of his morality? I hardly think Biden was physically intimidated by Bush, especially considering that he reports responding similarly. It seems to me that it wasn't a threatening gesture. So, at the most, I would say his foray was unbefitting the position of president, but hardly a moral deviation.Take me, I am the drug; take me, I am hallucinogenic. -Salvador Dali
