Trump to Bush: 'You're fired'

Recommended Posts

Interesting article I found down here. Is that a sign that Bush is loosing support in the part of the business community that does not have Iraq or military contracts?

Donald Trump to President Bush: You're fired!

The billionaire host of NBC's The Apprentice has weighed in on the Bush administration's decision to invade Iraq, terming it a "brutal mistake" that would "make it very hard for Bush to get re-elected".

Trump's numerous development projects have been crimped by the war.

"You can't get concrete. You can't get steel. You can't get anything in this country," he said.

"You know where all our steel's going? It's going to Iraq, because we're rebuilding Iraq."

Trump made the comments last night at the NBC-owned Universal Studios amusement park, where the network threw a party for television critics and the stars of its new and returning series.

The Apprentice became NBC's biggest hit last season, with Trump emerging as an even bigger celebrity than he had been.

"Look, the war is a disaster. The war should not have been entered into," he told The Dallas Morning News while his fiancee, Melania Knauss, looked on.

"To lose all of those thousands and thousands of people, on our side and their side. I mean, you have Iraqi kids, not only our soldiers, walking around with no legs, no arms, no faces. All for no reason. It is a disgrace."

The Bush campaign declined to comment but noted that the president in a speech today had forcefully defended his decision to go to war.

Trump has contributed $US2,000 ($A2,760) each to President Bush's and Democrat John Kerry's campaigns, according to http://www.fundrace.org. But he said that events in Iraq had soured him on the current administration.

"No matter how much you hate Saddam Hussein, and obviously he was a horror show, he kept terrorists out of Iraq," Trump said.

So a democrat has negative things to say about a republican and feels he should not be re-elected. Wow, there's a shocker.

I did not know that Trump is a Democrat. Sure about that?

Trump is pretty selfish. apparently the availability/price of building materials is a primary criteria on the wisdom of invading Iraq to him:

"You know where all our steel's going? It's going to Iraq, because we're rebuilding Iraq."

Why do you think that SH, according to Trump, suppossedly keeping terrorists out of Iraq, so important above everything else?

Iraq was a safe haven for some notable terrorists, and he bragged about his payments to suicide bombers.

Ego out of control.
People are sick and tired of being told that ordinary and decent people are fed up in this country with being sick and tired. I’m certainly not, and I’m sick and tired of being told that I am

Well, at least they can walk around with no legs.

LOMoFoL!!! :D

Trump is a putz. Is there any argument there?

The funniest thing on t.v. lately is Conan O'Brien, nightly, ruffling his hair, putting on this weird grimace, and strutting up to put his face in the camera before saying, "Yuh fiy-ud!"

I love it!

Cracks me up every time.

Kennedy to The Donald: You're an idiot.

Really. I mean, isn't he the guy who has a casino that's losing money??

How the fuck do you have a casino that loses money?!

You gotta be an idiot.

-

It's probably a tax right off.

Now if he had an oil company that was losing money, I'd think he were an idiot, but that's a different idiot :P

It's always about Bush, with you... :P

If this were a dictatorship, it'd be a heck of a lot easier...just as long as I'm the dictator." -George W. Bush, Dec. 18, 2000

Shall we compare this with these infamous Clinton quotes?:

"If the personal freedoms guaranteed by the Constitution inhibit the government's ability to govern the people, we should look to limit those guarantees." --President William Clinton, August 12, 1993

"The United States can't be so fixed on our desire to preserve the rights of ordinary Americans..."--President Bill Clinton, March 1, 1993, during a press conference in Piscataway, NJ Boston Globe, 3/2/93, page 3, USA Today, March 11, 1993

Speaks volumes about how much he, and Democrats, care about individual rights.

You're right, and the quote from Bush says the same. But Bush is up for reelection, Clinton is not. So we only have to worry about keeping one of them out of power.

Are you saying that it is generally accepted that Bush made that statement in earnest?

I find that extremely hard to believe.

Are you sure it wasn't tongue-in-cheek? You seem to be implying that it indicates a real danger, a real intent to make himself dictator!

I utterly doubt it amounts to that.

Well, not the only time he said it...

"You don't get everything you want. A dictatorship would be a lot easier."
Referring to governing Texas (Begala Is our Children Learning? citing Governing July 1998)

A dictatorship would be a heck of a lot easier, there's no question about it."
Referring to governing the United States, July 26, 2001

"It's not a dictatorship in Washington, but I tried to make it one in that instance."
Describing his executive order making faith-based groups eligible for federal subsidies, New Orleans, Louisiana, Jan. 15, 2004

"I'm a war president. I make decisions here in the Oval Office in foreign policy matters with war on my mind."
On NBC's "Meet the Press", Feb. 8, 2004

I am sure you are much more successful at what you do than Donald Trump is.

Makes you wonder about the idiot comment, doesn't it?
