Ok, he may have taken an aggressive tone but his point is quite clear. The reality is that no media outlet would come even close to this. Actually except for talk radio and fox news most media outlets would do the exact opposite. Comedy needs to rooted is some form of truth that is exagerated to prove a point. This is such a ridiculous mis representation of reality in every front that its not comedy. Its simply stupid. If I could make a wish, I think I'd pass. turtlespeed 226 #11 July 8, 2004 Quote> What fuckin planet do you live on? The traditional one warning about personal attacks. What I find amazing is the bias in the rules in this case. This is CLEARLY a troll post. It was set there to illicit a reaction just as it did. A joke is a joke. If it is printed as a cartoon or if the irony of actualy living on another planet in this solar system strike too close to home. One is not so different than the other.I'm not usually into the whole 3-way thing, but you got me a little excited with that. - Skymama BTR #1 / OTB^5 Official #2 / Hellfish #408 / VSCR #108/Tortuga/Orfun
TypicalFish 0 #12 July 8, 2004 Quote It was set there to illicit a reaction just as it did. Aren't most? What makes it a troll post? I was actually interested in the ensuing conversation as I just finished both Ann Coulter's AND Al Franken's books, and they BOTH made the "unequivocal" case for the other side's media bias..."I gargle no man's balls..." ussfpa on SOCNET
billvon 3,118 #13 July 9, 2004 >This is CLEARLY a troll post. It was set there to illicit a reaction just as it did. It doesn't matter. As I've explained about a thousand times, you MAY NOT engage in personal attacks, even if you really, honestly, truly believe the poster is a dick. If you attack a troll, you'll get threads locked/get banned. If you attack Mother Teresa, you'll get threads locked/get banned. If you feel a post is intentionally inflammatory, PM a moderator about getting it deleted. In this case, the link was to a mainstream political cartoon; it was no more offensive than a link to a GOP political cartoon showing bad stuff about Kerry. Both are not inappropriate for a forum dedicated to (among other things) politics. This forum is set up for people to have political discussions. Sometimes they get a bit heated. If you are overly sensitive, your feelings will not be protected here; if such things really bother you, then the Bonfire is a better choice. Political discussions are kept out of that forum. newsstand 0 #16 July 9, 2004 In fact it was posted to show an extreme example of how much of the media does treat the two and because I thought it was funny. Of course the examples are unrealistic but that is what makes it humor. In the eyes of the right wing portion of the media Kerry can do no good and Bush can do no wrong. Granted it works the other way too with the left wing portion of the media. As to Kennedy's statement, I really couldn't care less what he thinks of me which I think I made pretty clear in my response to him. "Truth is tough. It will not break, like a bubble, at a touch; nay, you may kick it about all day like a football, and it will be round and full at evening." -- Oliver Wendell Holmes
