tunaplanet 0 #1 July 7, 2004 There has been much talk and speculation about Rudy Giuliani replacing Cheney as VP. I feel that will not happen for this election, however, I do think there is a possibility that Cheney will step down shortly after Bush wins this upcoming election (assuming he does). That would put Giuliani as a strong candidate to challenge Hilary in 08. Even if Cheney doesn't step down after this election, Giuliani could still run on his own in 08. It just would be better for him to do it as a VP. Forty-two
tonyhays 86 #2 July 7, 2004 Replacing Cheney with Giuliani after the election does nothing for Bush right now. I suspect Rudy G. will replace Cheney at the RNC as a surprise announcement.“That which can be asserted without evidence, can be dismissed without evidence.”
tunaplanet 0 #3 July 7, 2004 QuoteReplacing Cheney with Giuliani after the election does nothing for Bush right now. Correct. The move after the election (assuming it does) would not be about Bush. It wouldn't matter. He would be president anyways. The move would be about strengthening the Republican party gearing up for the 08 elections. Giuliani would be a stronger opponent if he was the VP heading into 08. Clinton facing Giuliani would be her worst nightmare. Obviously it's way to early to speculate but I feel she wouldn't match up well. Forty-two
Gravitymaster 0 #4 July 7, 2004 What about McCain as VP? Noticed how chummy he and Bush are suddenly?
Kennedy 0 #5 July 7, 2004 Giuliani as an opponent would be Clinton's worst nightmare. She maybe be popular with a big chunk of downstate New Yorkers, but she couldn't hold a candle to him when it comes ta da Noo Yawkuz. Giuliani has a list of accomplishments as long as....well let's just say really long. witty subliminal message Guard your honor, let your reputation fall where it will, and outlast the bastards. 1*
tonyhays 86 #6 July 7, 2004 I think either McCain or Rudy G. would be an excellent replacement for Cheney. Either one would help W get votes, IMHO.“That which can be asserted without evidence, can be dismissed without evidence.”
TheAnvil 0 #7 July 7, 2004 Possibly. Not quite sure. I would rather see Condi Rice step in so we could all witness the spontaneous combustion of leftist race pimps such as $harpton and Jack$on. Gawain 0 #11 July 7, 2004 I like Giuliani, but I think I'd rather see him as a member of Powell's Cabinet (Sect'y of State maybe?). Part of me thinks that if Cheney steps away, then Colin Powell would be a possible VP as well (either before or after the election). Having said that, I really like Cheney and wouldn't mind one bit if he stayed on.So I try and I scream and I beg and I sigh Just to prove I'm alive, and it's alright 'Cause tonight there's a way I'll make light of my treacherous life Make light! tonyhays 86 #15 July 8, 2004 I don't think Dubya will ditch him, per se. I think Cheney will step down due to "health problems". And let's face it, with his heart, it's believable. Don't know the answer to your question though.“That which can be asserted without evidence, can be dismissed without evidence.”
