What do People who OPPOSE Bush think of Edwards VP?

Recommended Posts

Quote

I suppose you forgot what GHW Bush said about Reagan's economic policies before GHWB became VP candidate.

You're off-topic, Kallend. Bush didn't subsequently pick Reagan to come to work side-by-side with him.

And are you saying that you recognize that Kerry was intentionally lying about Edwards back then, and is telling the truth now? If so, then how are we, the voters, to know when he is speaking the truth, and when he isn't?

Kerry is looking more and more like another Clinton, who lies whenever it is convenient, to try and please everyone. Kerry and Edwards are all symbolism over substance.

I'd rather have an old bald guy with lackluster public speaking skills but tons of integrity, then a handsome guy with a full head of hair and a smooth tongue, that can't be trusted.

>So, the questions I have now are: why does Kerry all of a sudden
> decide that Edwards is worthy of being Vice President?

Because he's been "out of diapers" for 35 years now. I know I have a bit more experience than I did 35 years ago.

>Either way, it doesn't say much for the integrity of John Kerry either...

Yet something tells me Bush won't use the "I have brought honor and integrity to the White House, as I promised!" in his election campaign (which is smart.)

Next thing you know, someone will talk about electing a hollywood actor to the position of president! Heck, there might come a day when we elect action heroes or professional wrestlers to positions of authority.

I think he was telling the truth both times; for one things, opinions (and most of those comments were opinions) change, and for another, two different things can be said of many people.

You're really trying to find lies, aren't you? Was George HW Bush lying when he ran against Reagan and talked bad about him? Or was that different?

Reagan chose Bush, a guy who had called his economic policies "Voodoo economics". What integrity did Bush have to agree to be on the ticket with someone whose policies he despised?

So in conclusion, no democrat can answer my question. Figures.

It's a safe assumption that Democrats can answer your question, but have chosen not to.

To Add: I think that politicians say a lot of things and talk a lot of shit when they are running for presidency... We've seen Kerry do it, and we saw Bush do it. Kerry has talked shit about Edwards and already gone back on it. Time will tell if he does the same with his domestic and foreign policies. Bush has already done it with his domestic and foreign policies.
I think it's safe to say that this is a common practice of politicians and should be expected. That's not to say that I agree with it, nor find it excusable for either candidate, quite the contrary, I do however, acknowledge that it occurs from both parties.

Exactly. They know that either way they answer it it shows them they're either...

a) Voting for someone who has a VP that he feels isn't ready for the job.

or

b) Voting for a liar.

OR
C) They simply don't care to reply to your post!

It's pretty stupid that you are reaching such an extreme conclusion just because people have chosen to not respond to a post by you. Maybe they're just ignoring your posts because they don't think that a discussion with you is objective or constructive, or perhaps they are choosing to focus on other topics because of any number of reasons. You may have your own opinion of Kerry and Edwards, but don't put that in the mouths of the people with whom you disagree.

I'm hardly a democrat.. I believe that Edwards will be great as the Vice President, and I do not think that Kerry should be labeled as a liar...

When Kerry starts telling America that he believes in the separation of church and state, and 4 years later attempts to change the constitution to ban gay marriages and speaks against abortion based on religion, then we can call him a liar... Or if he says it's not America's job to police the world, nor force democracy in other countries, then invades other countries, and forces democracy on them, then we should call him a liar.

Oh wait, that's exactly what Bush said... Yet you sit here and ignore that and call Kerry a liar because he was insulting Edwards while he ran for the democratic nomination... so ironic.

He may soon be your Commander in Chief, you know.

I'd have to say that qualitative statements of opinion are often neither truth nor lies.

I can say truthfully "John Rich is a great canopy pilot." He lands exactly where he wants to, within centimeters, whenever he wants to. He doesn't swoop at all. Am I lying or am I telling the truth? If I say that SkymonkeyOne (who's far more into swooping) is a great canopy pilot, am I lying or telling the truth?

And if I've learned more than when I made an initial statement, maybe, just maybe, my opinion on a qualitiative subject has changed. Kerry set a lot of people on finding the best candidate; he tried to stay somewhat separate from the process to avoid having his own prejudices (which is what subjective opinions like that are -- mine and yours too) color the process too much.

So he wasn't lying when he thought that Edwards was not qualified to be President; he's also not lying when he says that Edwards is qualified to be one heartbeat away from being President.

I have a feeling, too, that his intention is to keep his own heart beating, and avoid having to prove either of those statements.

If you're looking for a "red socks or blue socks, which is it" answer, well, then my opinion is that you're just trolling for ammo.

How many people call their boss a jackass?

How many bosses hire people that they call incompetent? How many people hire people with opinions that differ from theirs?

I did to an O-6 in the Navy. Actually I called him a no-good dumb-ass who didn't know his ass from a hole in the ground.

I now know exactly how many strides it takes to circle around a quarter mile track. I should know. I did it 80 times.

I also now know when to S2. For all you cake-eaters out there, that means Sit the fuck down and Shut the fuck up.

What's that old saying about learning the hard way?

That't the tactic I've decided to take with 2 specific posters here who do nothing buy tell everyone how smart they are compare to everyone else and how much better they are than everyone else and how everyone else is just a sheep who can't think for themselves. Meanwhile the only thoughts they seem to be able to generate are how to insult and degrade other people in an effort to boost their own deflated self esteem.
