How history repeats itself: "You've been a great governor. My only problem with you, governor, is that you've only had four and going into your fifth year of governorship. . . . Frankly, I really believe that you need more experience before you become president of the United States. That's why I'm thinking of you as a vice presidential candidate." panzwami 0 #27 July 7, 2004 ....and whose fault is that? (Excerpt from a Letter to the Editor, printed in The Washington Times on February 11, 2004. It was written by Col. William Campenni, USAF (ret.), who served with President Bush in the Texas Air National Guard.) "The mission of the 147th Fighter Group and its subordinate 111th FIS, Texas ANG, and the airplane it possessed, the F-102, was air defense. It was focused on defending the continental United States from Soviet nuclear bombers. The F-102 could not drop bombs and would have been useless in Vietnam. A pilot program using ANG volunteer pilots in F-102s (called Palace Alert) was scrapped quickly after the airplane proved to be unsuitable to the war effort. Ironically, Lt. Bush did inquire about this program but was advised by an ANG supervisor (Maj. Maurice Udell, retired) that he did not have the desired experience (500 hours)at the time and that the program was winding down and not accepting more volunteers." freeflying 0 #28 July 7, 2004 QuoteQuoteKerry was in Vietnam????I never knew this. How long was hie there? Longer than Dubya... Yes but the way you hear Kerry talk you would think he had been there for years vs. the very limited time he was there. And he received his purple hearts for things that can hardly be called injuries. Not saying that Bush is all that since he succeeded in avoiding going to Vietnam, but Kerry goes on at nauseam about his days in Vietnam that it just screams politics
