And the "Oil for WMD" program bought Hussein some very nice american made weapons, and lots of dead Iranians to boot (which made us happy.) I can only imagine the shrill screams of incoherent rage from the far right if it turned out that France had sold some of those WMD's to Iraq. It must be incredibly frustrating to realize that the ingredients used for those weapons (and the vehicles used to deliver them) had "Made in USA" stamped on them.
