tbrown 26 #27 July 6, 2004 QuoteThose are your opinions - you're certainly welcome to them. Thanks, that's what I'd thought the Forums were here for. There were further revelations last week that the clergy sex abuse scandal isn't just an American problem either, it's worldwide. With the church re-shuffling the priests around the world to protect them. In all fairness, as my parents and most of my family are still sincere Catholics, I'm not condemning people who choose to hold onto their Catholic faith. But I despise any church that tries to lean on it members with such a heavy hand over political questions, whether it's the Catholics, Jerry Falwell, Louis Farrakan, or anyone else. Some of it's based on general principles, some of it on my extreme bitterness with a church that cares for nothing so much as controlling every aspect of peoples' lives. TheAnvil 0 #29 July 6, 2004 Exactly what heavy hand are you referring to here? The Catholic Church is virulently anti-abortion and opposes the death penalty with ALMOST as much fervor. Anti-Dim and anti-Republican. Vinny the Anvil Post Traumatic Didn't Make The Lakers Syndrome is REAL JACKASS POWER!!!!!!
skydivexxl 0 #30 July 6, 2004 QuoteNo, but the Rather/Jennings/Brokaw trifecta were the ones spinning it with a vengeance. Has there or has there not been MANY cases of sexual misconduct for decades within the catholic church? Damn the media for reporting cases of priests violating little boys. It's the media's fault, not the priests, right? The catholic church is not infallable. They are as as hypocritical as ANY other group.
