Jib 0 #2 July 1, 2004 How? A guideline provides some uniformity in the sentencing of criminals. So, judge A imposes a similar sentence to judge B. It's harder to say he got a harder sentence because he was [insert minority]. -------------------------------------------------- the depth of his depravity sickens me. -- Jerry Falwell, People v. PhillyKev 0 #3 July 1, 2004 Because people are being sentenced and receiving punishment for crimes that were not evaluated by a jury. Because judges are no longer able to consider exigent circumstances. Because someone caught with a single dose of LSD on a sugar cube is sentenced to 20-life because the sugar cube weighs as much as thousands of pure hits of lsd. Because justice is supposed to come from an analysis of the crime commited, not the pages of a book.
