PhillyKev 0 #3 June 15, 2004 Is that a twist on the standard attempt to justify the current administration's corruption? Slight modification from "But Clinton did it...." to "But the UN did it...."

Trent 0 #5 June 15, 2004 Does the Red Cross have access to the prisoners in Cuba? I thought I remembered hearing that they did, but I'm not sure.Oh, hello again!

It's grim that it's coming to a "he said she said" amongst General staff, though. Must be some hidden dirt trying to get out.... The only sure way to survive a canopy collision is not to have one. PhillyKev 0 #7 June 15, 2004 QuoteDoes the Red Cross have access to the prisoners in Cuba? I thought I remembered hearing that they did, but I'm not sure. Yes, they do. And they have made many complaints to the US about conditions there as well. One thing about the Red Cross is that they do not make public statements about conditions. They go into areas and make reports to the controlling party in hopes they will mend their ways. Part of their charter is not to disclose anything to other parties or governments so that there is no opposition to giving them access based on political motivation. None of the info that has come to light about Iraq came from the Red Cross.

Ummm...because US personnel took all these pictures and stuff. And the gov't made all these reports and studies and findings and memos. They don't contradict at all. The information didn't come from the red cross, it came from other sources.
Trent 0 #10 June 15, 2004 I just thought it was strange that the Red Cross doesn't mention things like that, but it is out in the public. So the US made mention of these reports? Not that secretive torture interrogations are good, but if you're gonna do that shit, you better make sure people keep their mouths shut. Sounds like, as Kallend said, there's a lot of CYA going on.Oh, hello again!
slug 1 #11 June 15, 2004 It's grim that it's coming to a "he said she said" amongst General staff, though. Must be some hidden dirt trying to get out. When the shit hit's the fan everyone in the room try's to duck. No comment on the General staff, West Point grads etc. Hiding behind a pentagon lawyers legal opinion of what constitutes Legal mistreatment soory about that /treatment of POW's, prisoners, IMO is rookie PAO (propaganda) crap. I support out troops and their families, but will not give my Gov't a rubber stamp. We can still vote and express our opinions via free speech. I hope R.I.P.
