lawrocket 3 #1 June 10, 2004 Almost singlehandedly, FDR is responsible for the deaths of millions, including tens of thousands of American lives. How? In the 1930's and 40's, FDR allied with the Stalin, the notorious killer of millions. His support of Stalin caused the deaths of millions of Russians through the purges. This also runs right up to the deaths of Cambodians via the Khmer Rouge, Vietnamese, and countless Chinese victims of the Red Army. Had his alliance with the Soviets not existed, the Korean War and the Vietnam War, where tens of thousands of Americans were killed, would not have occurred. FDR's legacy is of death, destruction and war, for he buttressed the enemy. Sure, they were both fighting the Germans at the time, who were viewed as a pretty good sized threat, but they became the enemy. Hey, Reagan gets criticized for his support or Iraq in the 80's, does he not? Let's apply it to FDR. Let's apply it to Carter for his support of Iran in the 70's, while we're at it. Fair is fair... My wife is hotter than your wife.

I don't criticize Reagan for supporting Iraq. I criticize the hypocrites who complain about what Saddham did while we were supporting him, and who complain about weapons he had that we helped him obtain. I do criticize Reagan for Iran-Contra, and his weasel like speech justifying it after the news leaked out.... The only sure way to survive a canopy collision is not to have one. I fail to see how Korea and Vietnam would not have happened. Would our relations have been any worse by mid WWII if he had not allied in some form prior? We didn't exactly rush to reopen the two front war with Germany, did we? And we did nuke Japan in part to end the war there before the Soviets could claim much territory. Stalin was killing off his own from the very beginning. Vietnam would still have sent the French packing, our involvement would only have been curtailed if there was no Cold War. But given the end of WWII left the US and USSR as the only large economic powers not totally in ruins, we'd still be competing for the spoils in any circumstance.
