SpeedRacer 1 #1 June 10, 2004 Interesting article about Iraqi bloggers on the BBC website:http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/middle_east/3786631.stm There are also links to the bloggers' websites. Trent 0 #2 June 10, 2004 Thanks for the link. I checked out the http://iraqthemodel.blogspot.com/ after reading the article. It appears to be this guy's opinion that more good than bad has been done. It's nice to hear someone's personal accounts of what is going on, what has happened, and what the future outlook will be. I'd suggest anyone on these forums go check it out.Oh, hello again! Newbie 0 #3 June 10, 2004 thanks for that link too, i was just reading some of his entries, it's really interesting to get a first hand view, rather than the biased skew the media puts on things. "Skydiving is a door" Happythoughts
Trent 0 #4 June 10, 2004 Agreed. Apparently, according to this guy anyway, the US is a welcome presence in Iraq. I also find it interesting that they are disgusted with the Western Media BS. It would be interesting to hear what people who hate that we're there, or think we're after oil, or killing millions of civilians, have to say about this site.Oh, hello again! Ron 10 #5 June 10, 2004 QuoteFor example, a blog entry by Ali relates a clash with Iraqi police as he goes with his father to collect his wages - for the first time in seven months - and innocently takes some pictures of the patrols to share with readers on his website. "[Afterwards] I noticed that my father was still upset so I said: 'Dad, take it easy! Just think what it would have looked like if it had happened at Saddam's time!'" he writes. "Nothing would've happened at those times, because you wouldn't dare to take pictures in the streets," his father replies solemnly sounds like it is better there huh?"No free man shall ever be debarred the use of arms." -- Thomas Jefferson, Thomas Jefferson Papers,
freeflybella 0 #6 June 10, 2004 QuoteIt would be interesting to hear what people who hate that we're there, or think we're after oil, or killing millions of civilians, have to say about this site. It's the method for many of us. As quoted from the other blog: "Whatever their quiet wish to be rid of Saddam Hussein, their experience of American arms has not been pleasant." (The Economist) and "The West won the world not by superiority it its ideas or values or religion but rather by its superiority in applying organized violence. Westerners often forget this fact, non-westerners never do." (Samuel Huntington) Action expresses priority. - Mahatma Ghandi
Trent 0 #7 June 10, 2004 Read some of the blogs that the original was linked to. Looks like at least THEY know a lot of people who are happy that we're there. And I wouldn't expect that their experience of any arms, American, Militia, or Saddam's had been pleasant. Some of the bloggers seem to understand that and look towards a brighter future once the fighting is done. As one of the bloggers mentioned, if all the Iraqis are against the US being there, why aren't they out in the streets demanding we leave?Oh, hello again! freeflybella 0 #8 June 10, 2004 They are happy the future will be brighter. I sincerely doubt they would have objected to a non-violent solution to (or even prevention of) their situation. If they had had a non-violent solution, would they be out in the streets demanding that american soldiers be there? Action expresses priority. - Mahatma Ghandi
