quade 4 #1 June 10, 2004 So, I had to run out for a few minutes to pick up some equipment and while I was out I wanted to listen to the State Funeral being held for President Reagan. Normally I'd tune into NPR, but in the area of town I was in, it just wasn't coming in very well so I switched over to the one channel I knew I could always receive, the most powerful radio station in the U.S., KFI. So, it's afternoon drive time and the regular hosts John & Ken are on with Terri-Rae Elmer, the news reader, and they're commenting on the live TV coverage. Joking more like it. They're lauging about how and why certain things are being done and what is worse, as they see prominent Democrats, they take digs at them and ask why they'd be at the ceremony. Yeah, very respectful guys. edited to add Yes, I wrote their news director to complain as well.quade - The World's Most Boring Skydiver
Guest #2 June 10, 2004 I can't imagine working in a field where one is under huge, unending pressure to deliver audience metrics to satisfy advertisers, but not alienate or otherwise piss off listeners. Talk about a rock and a hard place. I guess sometimes they lose sight of things. mh ."The mouse does not know life until it is in the mouth of the cat." MC208B 0 #3 June 10, 2004 Is this a talk radio/conservative format station? If so, shows that there are jerks on the conservative side too. Just not as many
quade 4 #4 June 10, 2004 Nawww, you'd have to know the John & Ken demo -- basically it's their job to whip the masses into a frenzy. They're constantly pulling publicity stunts: an SUV caravan to protest a gas tax, doing live broadcasts from outside legal proceedings and yelling at the people involved with bullhorns. Ok, I get it, they're jerks and that's their job, but I certainly would have thought this particular afternoon they could lay off a bit. It's just not the time. Yes, they work for KFI which is a massively conservative radio station, part of Clear Channel, carrying Rush, Dr. Laura and Drudge among others.quade - The World's Most Boring Skydiver
