I'm glad he resigned. We are finally rid of another Clinton appointee.

Yep, one more step towards a Bush/Ashcroft theocracy... Aren't you proud! Let's become the Christian version of Taliban-ruled Afghanistan! Whoohoo!! Mandatory prayer! Women suborned to men! Yay![/sarcasm]

What a fucking nightmare...

I'm disturbed that you can only see this in partisan terms.

This was a massive failure from the top down.

I'm disturbed that you think thats how I see it. Of course it was a massive failure from the top down. It's been a massive failure for many many years. Tenet was a source Bush relied on to provide accurate intel and he has failed miserably at it since he was appointed by Clinton in 1997. Tenet should have been fired by Bush at least 2 years ago. Now maybe we can get a CIA Director with some competency.

Right! Bush is clueless again:

"Bush said Tenet had done "a superb job for the American people."

"He has been a strong and able leader at the agency," Bush said.

"He has been a strong leader in the war on terror and I will miss him."

...

The only sure way to survive a canopy collision is not to have one.

No, thats just showing some class for a guy who served his country even though he's made mistakes. What did you want Bush to do, bash him? Oh, I can just hear you now Kallend, if Bush had said something like that.:D

thats a big maybe...i've pretty much lost faith in Bush's ability to select good staff/advisors and then heed their advice since Colin Powell has been so completely sidelined on military issues in favor of civilians with no military experence....

I agree. Of course, ill informed people have a contrary opinion:

"Bush said Tenet had done "a superb job for the American people."

"He has been a strong and able leader at the agency," Bush said.

"He has been a strong leader in the war on terror and I will miss him."

Dude, come on.

What's he supposed to say? "That guy sucked and I'm glad to be rid of him"?

Be realistic. When someone leaves government service (or your dropzone, or your department, or whatever) you stand up and say some nice things about them, even (or perhaps especially) if you despise them. That's just the way things are generally done in polite society.

which is of course the nature of politicians, but still doesnt make it right..if your an incompetent fool, a stellar performer, or even a mediocre wage earner, facts remain the same, either you did well or no.. candy coated speeches help nothing but egos...
