Americans make a lot of noise but are unwilling to forego things like fast food and gas to make any sort of political statement. Think about how much power we'd have over Saudi Arabia, Venezuela etc if we threatened to stop buying their oil, and then did so even for a month. They know we will never do that. Boycott fast food?
