AlexCrowley 0 #26 December 19, 2005 Please stop making so much sense so succinctly. You're inadvertantly widening the absurdity deficit and I'm hanging on by my toenails as it is. Free a candle! Save the sociopaths! TV's got them images, TV's got them all, nothing's shocking.
Amazon 7 #27 December 19, 2005 QuoteWhen I'm in church, I look at some people and wonder why they act one way while there, and another on the outside. Amen to that. I cant go to a church anymore because of that. I despise hypocrisy like that. I grew up in a family that was VERY invovled with church and I was in the choir and mother was a sunday school teacher and also in the choir. I went to parochial school and recieved a very good education there but the abuses of the pastors and clergy there were evident to me at a fairly early age. When your mother who is just barely making ends meet gets letters from the pastor about contributions not being up to par, yet he is driving a new Cadillac and we are driving a 10 year old car, it lets you know where the real priorities are at. L Ron Hubbard came right out and said that religion was the best scam going. Far too many others in the clergy in all sects show weekly they feel the same way. steveorino 7 #28 December 19, 2005 QuoteQuoteMabye all Christians should take up skydiving. And bring all the prats you were talking about onto the DZ? Small DZs can be just like small churches! They think they're better than bigger ones (at least more "intimate") The gossip is about the same ... The prjudice over differences is about the same ... We're a freeflyer DZ ... We're a RW DZ. steveOrino
Falko 0 #29 December 19, 2005 QuoteReligion IS the root of all evil. My thoughts exactly. My answer is not directed at you, Duckwater. I think that not only religion is the root of all evil, but in general every school of thought that encourages a group feeling of "we're better off than them"! I'm rather wandering around looking for life's little answers here and there than subscribing to any religion or school of thought which claimes to have them for me. There is no security, no final knowledge, no true comfort and no deliverance. (Deliverance from what, by the way? But I digress...) Subscription to any school of thought and calling myself a [fill-in-religion-here] would be a voluntary restriction of the mind. Why would anyone want that? In my opinion it's all lazyness! I despise collective religion: It has done nothing but harm for millenia now and will continue to do so. edit for spelling and a little clarification Ich betrachte die Religion als Krankheit, als Quelle unnennbaren Elends für die menschliche Rasse. chuteless 1 #33 December 20, 2005 being a born again Christian is a hard job, especially with all the temptations of this materialistic world. The houirs are long, the pay is low, but the retirement package is "out of this world" and well worth the effort!!!! Bill Cole .
