Gawain 0 #1 May 21, 2004 http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,120558,00.html http://www.cnn.com/2004/WORLD/meast/05/21/berg/index.html There aren't many details, but one can hope (as I do) that we got one or two, and are on track to finding the others. What should we do with them if they're convicted? So I try and I scream and I beg and I sigh Just to prove I'm alive, and it's alright 'Cause tonight there's a way I'll make light of my treacherous life Make light! Gawain 0 #4 May 21, 2004 Depends on who tries him. If Iraq reinstates capital punishment after sovereignty is turned over...beheading is still a common form of execution in the middle east.So I try and I scream and I beg and I sigh Just to prove I'm alive, and it's alright 'Cause tonight there's a way I'll make light of my treacherous life Make light! pajarito 0 #5 May 21, 2004 The US is essentially the governing body there until soverienty is turned over. It happened when that was the case. I don't think they should be tried under Iraqi law. I think these guys, if we get them, are ours and should be brought back to the US for trial. This was a crime committed during US control and to a US citizen. I don't think they should be beheaded or anything like that. As with the prison abuse issue, we're better than that.
Casurf1978 0 #6 May 21, 2004 Couldn't agree more. Put them on trial and throw them in jail for the rest of their lives, let them rot and fade away from peoples minds and histroy. Killing them might turn them into martyrs.

SBS 0 #8 May 22, 2004 well, unfortunately, as much as we would like to see their heads put up on stakes, the longer that we drag this on and go back and forth, the more lives of our own men we are going to see taken in direct retalliation for our actions stemming from this issue. I, personally, don't care to see video of another person's head being sawed off, and really don't care to hear about it either. Someone is going to have to be the mature one in this 2nd grade level fight that costs needless lives. It's not going to be them, and we can sit and wait for it to happen and take our normal high horse approach to the issue and wait for them to break, but the longer we do, the larger and larger the memorial wall will grow. Hell, maybe we can just extend the wall that exists...change the name to the "um...what exactly did I die for again?" wall. -S_____________ I'm not conceited...I'm just realistic about my awesomeness...
