bodypilot90 0 #1 May 20, 2004 Washington-AP) -- Bill Cosby says young black people -- and their families -- should realize how much people back in the day had to go through to get an education. The comedian took part in an NAACP event to mark the 50th anniversary of the Supreme Court decision in the Brown versus Board of Education case. He noted that there were people who "marched and were hit in the face with rocks to get an education" -- but now there are "knuckleheads walking around" who don't take their schooling seriously. He called on parents to take an active role in raising their kids, urging them to "take the neighborhood back." Though Cosby's remarks about education were serious, he also poked fun at one of his fellow comedians. At one point in the ceremony, comedian Dick Gregory pretended to run off with the medal he presented to Cosby. Cosby said of Gregory: "This is what happens when they get old." rickjump1 0 #5 May 20, 2004 The black community needs more people like Bill Cosby to break this caste system the black kids have among themselves. They need to be nurtured into believing that it's ok to work hard in school.Do your part for global warming: ban beans and hold all popcorn farts. We are classified as "highly selective" by the various surveys. I hate to think what it must be like at open enrollment colleges....
